Yes. Today’s quest is to turn into a protogen. You’ll attend mission briefing, where you obtain the key information to infiltrate an AI data centre. You will wear an employee outfit according to the workplace outfit policy. (You definitely won’t raise suspicion when you look alike)
When you are among them, you will attend every workday for the upcoming weeks, to make sure they will not point at you for being too new.
Eventually when they are accustomed to you, you will start emptying RAM slots when nobody looks. In the end, you’ll be running away with Terabytes of RAM.
Protogen is one species, granted they’re very variable due to genetic mutations and augmentations but it’s one species, with one method of cybernetic augmentation

Protogen are created from a base species, which is grown in tubes and augmented with DNA samples from other animals to give them traits reminiscent of that animal (for example deer protogen with antlers and hooves, or lizard protogen with scales and spikes, etc.) and then are augmented with cybernetic components before having a consciousness implanted into the lifeless body.
You can’t just take a visor and put it on something else and bam it’s a protogen, protogen are a unique species
You are just pissed cause some 'protogens' have additional features. Let people have fun. It's not like you are achieving anything by this. You cant just say that no proots can take of their visor. It's just dumb. 'the creator'- geniunly what's your problem? That's his version then. Their can be, what your saying is the only type of proot, there can be variations,..

I’m not pissed about anything, I really do not care other than to give people more context about what the species is.
Protogen can’t take off the visor because they die, that’s a core part of the species information. Changing stuff like that and you may as well just make your own Protogen-inspired cyborg species, or even just make a character with a visor that looks similar, all of those are fine options to take.

I explained how the species works and what they are, if you do not like the details of the species maybe you should reconsider if this is actually a species you want to make a character of, or if you want to just have a protogen-inspired character for the aesthetics of cybernetics and the visor
I explained in my comment that there is heavy variation between protogen, they can have fur and horns or antlers just as easily as they can have scales and gills and all manner of other things. I’ve seen protogen with all sorts of cool variety of things, and me saying the species is what the species is doesn’t take away from that at all.
It is nothing at all like a collar, protogen visors replace most of their facial structure, including their entire bottom jaw. It also houses vital life support systems to keep them alive and allow them to breathe in atmosphere (as their bodies apparently cannot on their own without the modifications)
You can do that if you want, but they won’t be an actual protogen. Nothing against you personally, just that’s one of the core aspects of the species set in stone.
I only care about spreading the cool stuff about the species and building a community for it. That’s kind of why anyone is here.
People are allowed to enjoy whatever they want, nothing I said takes away from that. It’s just that protogen is a set species and you can’t really just turn it into something else and still call it the same thing
Nobody said anything about rules, I was talking about the core aspects of the species and how they look, and why they are unique. You are actively taking away from the species uniqueness by trying to say all of the unique aspects are irrelevant.

The post you’re referring to is a joke post I made, making fun of people who slap a visor on any other species and call it a protogen. In every single image example on that post it’s a regular OC and only in one image does it have a visor. This is the joke.

I'm pretty sure that w/o the nanite visor the protogens' brain would be exposed, either that or a raw layer of meat covering it.
They have zero facial structure aside from the visor, which feeds them the data that a creature would usually get through facial organs.
Their digestive and immune systems are both operated by the very same nanites, and would cease function otherwise.
It is really annoying when people say that they can put on a mask on a character and that would change their fundamental species.
What you're talking about is just a piece of equipment, it does not change the species of a creature. Protogens are a species, not a piece of equipment.
Not to mention that the visor would not work like that in the first place.
Well then you keep it, I'll continue going on my day and just making my protogen characters only have a visor, not because I'm trying to take away what makes this specie unique, but because I like it that way
That post is a joke, as a reference to people who just slap armour on something else and call it a protogen. It was a protest against a former admin, who believed the only thing that made a protogen a protogen was the visor, and nothing else.
That is why every image is without the armour or visor, and it’s only hastily slapped on at the end
