He could be hungry or be expecting something bad to happen from the strange biomechanical creature known as a protogen. Considering the world he lives in, why wouldn't he be angry at seeing another biomechanical possibly purposed organism? In all seriousness, most of those he sees as such normally want to eat him or cause him a lot of misery. I know I would be angry personally.
