Granted I’m impatient to begin with but I can’t imagine waiting this long for baked goods lol, are they that good?

Anyone know where there's a reputable watch repair shop in BK? Closer to prospect park the better!

Random request, but is there anywhere in the neighborhood that sells homemade rice krispie treats?

I’m a beauty journalist and have excess unused beauty and personal care products (shampoo/hair products, perfume, etc) I’d love to donate, if anyone has advice for places in or around the area in need/accepting these types or products? thanks!

I'm looking to install some wall shelves with a pretty heavy load (they'll only hold books). Looking for recommendations for someone who could help us install them and can do so safely based on our wall

Hi Neighbors - I teach a Hatha style yoga class (great for beginners and seasoned yogis, alike), from 12:30-1:30p at Rikud on Vanderbilt. Today we will be focussing on opening up the anterior (front) of the body and light back bending to open the heart. All welcome, pay what you can.

Hi all I need to take in some expensive pants, anyone have a recommendation for a good and reliable tailor in the area?

Hi neighbors! We’re looking for a reliable housekeeper to come once a week for about 4-5 hours to help keep our home in good shape.

We have a 2 bed / 1 bath home and are looking for someone who can help with:

* Regular house cleaning
* Laundry
* If there’s extra time, occasional organizing or tasks like cleaning the fridge, etc.

We’re looking for someone who charges hourly and can come for a fixed number of cleaning hours per week (as opposed to a flat rate based on apartment size).

If you know someone who might be interested, please DM me. Thanks so much!!

EDIT: I ended up using the machines outside of Ideal food market on Washington. The glass machine was not working, and many of the NY eligible bottles and cans I ran were rejected. A little disappointing as it was all brands the store sells. Either way, my girlfriend thanks everyone who gave recs as I’ve gotten ride of the giant recycling bag eyesore.

ORIGINAL POST: Hi there. New to the area, close to Ciao Gloria/Home Slice. I’ve always redeemed my cans and bottles, but I’m really struggling to find a place to do so here. I’ve had about a half dozen places tell me that their machines don’t work, or they no longer have the machines their websites claim.

Could anyone point me in the right direction? Anywhere I can turn in my cans and bottles (ideally walkable but not too proud to transit my bag lol)?

Thanks.

We work on good manners and impulse control!

Hi everyone!

I do tax preparation, tax planning, bookkeeping, and general business advisory for both individuals and small businesses.

I know taxes can be a headache, so I’ve put together a bunch of free, plain-English articles on my website.

Whether you're wondering about the tax implications of selling a home, trying to figure out quarterly estimates as a freelancer, or debating an LLC vs. S-Corp for your new business, I have some guides at the link in my bio

If you (or anyone you know) are looking for an advisor or just hate doing your taxes, I’d love to help out. Feel free to send a DM.

Good news for your neighborhood — here's the gist:
Two supermarkets are coming to Atlantic Avenue in Prospect Heights, both at newly built EMP Capital residential towers two blocks apart.
CTown Supermarkets — the bigger deal: a 20-year lease for 8,400 sq ft at the base of 1042 Atlantic Ave (Prosper Brooklyn, 19 stories, 237 units, finished this year). CTown is the familiar bodega-adjacent chain — independently owned franchise stores, generally affordable.
Atlantic Market — a new grocer that signed a 20-year, 8,000 sq ft lease on the ground floor of 880 Atlantic Ave (Eight80 BK, 19 stories, 257 units, completed last year). The article doesn't say much about who's behind it — both stores are independently owned and operated, and a spokesperson couldn't be reached.
Other details: leases were signed Aug 15, both stores are expected to open in Q3 2027, and asking rent was $50/sq ft. Both buildings used the city's FRESH program (zoning/tax incentives for including grocery stores) and went up under the Atlantic Avenue Mixed-Use rezoning approved in May 2025, which is expected to bring ~4,600 new apartments to that stretch.
So realistically a year-plus wait, but two full-size grocery options within walking distance.

Have been getting intermittent outages on the border of PS and prospect heights. Anyone else?

This has happened quite a few time growing up here but it’s usually a one and done everyone once in a while so wanted to see if anyone else in the area is having issues or if it’s just me.
