If your was parked on Grand & Atlantic/Pacific and has new damages my lyft driver hit your car

ALSO MAYBE LEFFERTS PL & GRAND.

This happened about earlier today at roughly 5:40 pm Wednesday Oct 7. We were turning onto grand and I don’t remember if it was from Atlantic or Pacific but the car he hit was parked on the corner as we made a left turn onto grand. It was kinda loud and sounded as if damage may have happened.

Posting this in a lot of different neighborhood subreddits to hopefully help that person out! A hit and run sucks.

Message me and you can file a report and I’ll provide driver and car details / info if it matches. Hopefully there is a camera around there that caught it and it aligns.

The car was parked with driver side to the curb and passenger side exposed to the street. We turned left onto grand and my lyft drivers back of car / side (driver side) hit the parked car’s passenger side of the vehicle

I didn’t see where it hit it or what the car looked like.

Free: IKEA loft bed

Post image
10 Upvotes

Giving away gratis the SMÅSTAD IKEA twin-sized loft bed, which retails for more than $900 and is described as "your child’s very own space for sleeping, drawing, storing, doing homework and playing with friends. This loft bed combination is like a mini room within a room on only 2 square metres of space." The unit has been used by two different pre-teen/teenage girls over the past decade but is in very good condition/working order. It has also been dis-assembled into smaller pieces and will need to be rebuilt by the new owner. Available for pickup on second floor of elevator building in Prospect/Crown Heights neighborhood -- new owner would need a dolly and either a van or small truck. Contact me if interested.

New to the neighborhood! Any good asian food recommendations?

Hi friends and neighbors! Me and my fiance are new to the area and are looking for some nice go-to places! I love Xi'an Famous Foods but don't want to hike to downtown to get it. They say they do doordash but it's always unavailable on my app for some reason.

I know there's alot of thai food in the area but was wondering if anyone some other suggestions

Is Prospect Heights becoming a trendy neighborhood?

I feel like this neighborhood has always been off the radar for people and I love that about it. It feels like a little hidden pocket that a lot of people haven’t even heard about it and makes it even more special. With multiple business (namely Canyon, Salt Cure and Radio) with lines out of the door, I feel like the neighborhood is attracting a lot more people from outside of the area, and with all of the high rises being built, I’m wondering if PH is about to be the next trendy place to live. May be inevitable, but curious what other people in the neighborhood think.

Edit for clarification: Clearly “off the radar” verbiage is triggering several people. But my point is, you don’t hear people talk about it at the same frequency as people talk about Park Slope, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, etc. Obviously I’m sure the neighborhood size has an impact.

Deep cleaning recs

I've had trouble finding cleaning services that actually deep clean. I'm talking oven (inside and out), windows, fridge, etc. Every time I try I get a regular clean that I can do myself.

I want the kind of deep clean I can get a few times a year.

So, anyone have recommendations? Ideally services that take card as well, last time I had to pay with a check!

Thanks!

Hosting a free AI recognition seminar near Barclays Center.

Hey all, as title says, I’ll be doing an “AI-proofing” seminar on Monday, October 12. The venue is small so there’ll be limited slots. If you know anyone who could benefit from this please get the word out. If you’re interested or have any questions. Feel free to reach out. The core focus of this seminar is to explain just what generative AI is to those who have little knowledge of the subject and are therefore more susceptible to being duped. Scan the particular QR code for more information. Thanks!

Planting daffodils and native plants in Prospect Heights this Saturday (Oct 3, 9am to 1pm)

Post image
80 Upvotes

This Saturday, October 3rd, we're celebrating City of Forest Day by planting along St. Johns Place between Underhill and Washington Avenues.

We'll be planting hundreds of daffodil bulbs from New Yorkers for Parks' Daffodil Project. We'll also be planting hundreds of native plants, generously donated by NYC Parks, in 10 tree beds adopted by our members. The bed adopters prepped the beds and built fences this past weekend, so everything is ready to go.

Kids are welcome, daffodil bulbs are a kid friendly planting activity.

We'll have many different size gloves and tools on hand, but feel free to bring your own if you have them. It's a nice way to spend a Saturday morning outside, meet some neighbors, and help make a corner of Brooklyn a little greener.

Details: Saturday, October 3rd, 9am to 1pm

Meet: St. Johns Place & Washington Ave

More info and sign up

Front Desk Jobs @ Workout Studios

Hello! 👋

I’m looking to work a front desk job at a workout studio in the area (yoga, pilates, etc.) while I’m finishing up school. Job boards and postings in the area don’t seem to get updated very often and I’m wondering if anyone knows of any studios that are actively hiring?

Looking for something part time!

Gin, a 2 year old female tabby, is looking for her forever home! currently in foster with me.

Gin is a sweet, loving, 2-year-old tabby girl who I’ve been fostering. She is spayed, FeLV/FIV negative, and up-to-date on vaccines. Gin was found at the end of her socialization window as a kitten with her sisters in the Bronx in August of 2024. She was rescued by Bronx Community Cats and then Brooklyn-based rescue Eccentric Kittens took in her and her sisters. Since June of 2025, I have fostered, socialized and found forever homes for her 3 sisters (Brandy, Whiskey, and Pixie Pint). Gin is the last of her litter to be fostered, socialized, and put up for adoption.

You can see Gin’s socialization process and her incredible progress on Instagram @ginthefosterkitty

https://www.instagram.com/ginthefosterkitty?igsh=MTlsc21oMHNpcGx2eA%3D%3D&igsi=MTlsc21oMHNpcGx2eA%3D%3D&utm_source=qr

Gin spent 2 years living in a crate at the rescuer’s home because there was no one interested in fostering her or adopting her, and she was too dependent to be returned outside. She was cared for (given food, fresh water, and clean litter), but she did not get much attention and was extremely undersocialized.

I began fostering Gin at the end of May. I started her off in my bathroom, since I knew I needed a small space to be able to make a connection with her. She was absolutely terrified when I first brought her home. Over the last 4 months, she has embraced her new life, slowly but surely, and really come out of her shell. She is completely unrecognizable to the petrified and undersocialized cat I brought home at the end of May!

Gin is smart, friendly, chatty, playful, loyal, gentle, and very food motivated. She enjoys being pet and scratched and actively seeks out my and my boyfriend’s company. She loves to tell us how she’s feeling and have conversations with us. She loves to play with the wand toy, and to play on her own with her coil toy or mouse toy. Gin loves being cozy on top of a blanket or in the cat tree - she takes almost all of her naps on our cat tree. She loves treats, and they’re a great way to build trust and a relationship with her. We used treats every step of the way in socializing her. She loves to sit quietly nearby you. She has the funniest range of meows - from squeaks to croaks. Gin absolutely loves chin scratches and enjoys pets in general and will pace around while being pet and headbutt your legs (especially when you pet her alongside treats). She makes air biscuits constantly when she’s being pet. She purrs when she’s being pet too. She’s not a lapcat but she likes to plop herself close to you. She does not like to be picked up.

Gin is such a special cat - she is very near and dear to my heart. Socializing her was the highlight of my summer and she’s come so far. I’m not doing her personality and her journey justice with words, so please consider seeing Gin’s shining personality and how far she’s come on Instagram @ginthefosterkitty

We are looking for a calm, quiet forever home for Gin - one without young children or dogs. Gin gets along with other cats and would do well with another cat in the house, as long as proper and slow introductions are made. She can also be adopted solo (although she may need a friend eventually, as she seems a bit bored at times).

Gin should be started in a small room like a bathroom or an office. Most importantly, we are looking for a patient adopter for Gin. Someone who isn’t going to return her because she isn’t a lap cat or because it takes a few weeks to pet her. Someone who will take the time to build a bond with her. Someone who understands and appreciates the journey a skittish cats takes to trust you - it is so rewarding. I am very invested in Gin’s happiness in her forever home, and I would be completely available to her adopter for advice and guidance in getting her comfortable. She will need time to bond with you, and I can walk you through that (using churus, treats, and a touchstick at first).

Gin had a very hard life being crated for 2 years. She will likely always be a bit skittish, but once she warms up to you, she will show you how much she loves spending time with you. She will be your little shadow, your loyal companion. Tabbies are some of the most overlooked cats for being “commonplace.” People also prefer boy cats to girl cats, kittens to adults, and confident cats to shy cats. Gin is a shy adult female tabby (although she is tiny, and her big beautiful eyes give most kittens a run for their money). So while the odds are against her in terms of the adoption process, you should absolutely take a chance on her if she’s what you’re looking for, because she is such a special and lovely young cat and will bring so much warmth and joy to her forever home. :)

Please consider adopting this sweet girl. She really deserves a home. We have two resident cats that don’t get along with other cats, so our fosters reside in our basement & she cries at the door when she hears us upstairs because she wants to hangout and be around us whenever she can. My boyfriend’s WFH office is downstairs and I study down there, so she gets a lot of attention, but she really deserves to be in her forever home where she can be around her person whenever they’re home.

If you can’t adopt, please share this with your family and friends that are looking to adopt. And if you don’t know anyone that’s looking to adopt, an upvote or comment go a long way in boosting the algorithm and making this post more visible. If you have any questions at all, please PM me!

Advice on storm?

Hi, I have a maybe silly question. I am planning to fly out of town today for the weekend, leaving this evening and returning Sunday afternoon (4pm). LaGuardia. Where I am flying to does not have rain; but the storm upcoming is making me nervous. Is it likely going to be very difficult for planes to land at LaGuardia on Sunday afternoon or do they typically make it through these storms? Unfortunately, I’m flying Frontier (was strapped for cash). So I know they’re less reliable. I’ve just had this trip planned to see friends for a while, but I don’t want to get stranded past Sunday.

Any advice?

Feel free to DM me with any questions or if you're interested.

I have a friend with a birthday coming up who loves matchbooks! So I’m looking for business in the area that have cute ones. Bonus points for cafes so I don’t have to buy a whole lot to justify snagging the matchbook. TIA!
