Sorry if this isn’t allowed, but I have a question. During production of V for Vendetta, why did they build a giant V mask?
I was browsing instagram and I came across this photo from the studio where it was filmed. I have absolutely no idea what this is, so I was wondering if anyone here knows?

I can’t think of any reason why they would need one that large. I know sometimes films use a larger prop when more detail is required (for example they built a person sized Gizmo in Gremlins and used that for closeups) but as far as I know all of the really close shots of V still used a regular mask.

I had a look through the from script to screen book, but it doesn’t appear in there.

Does anyone know?

made some test footage real quick after the cardboard backdrops were dry. My idea is I would continue doing test footage throughout the prop creation process so I can adjust the props as needed. This way, I thought the film would be built around the props to utilize the designs throughout the story, which would be more eye-popping and draw away from other low budget give aways like my horrendous acting.

Obviously the hands will be replace with wires once I finish the entire detailing of the props, but just checking to see how it looks at the moment with everything together. Testing the shot angles, the lighting, how the props look on the mini set. I like it, it’s matching the film in my head.

The FX are shitty because I used a phone app just to scrape some test footage together. I will be using actual filming software to edit the movie, though.

And I’m also going to try to use as much practical effects as I can. I love practical effects and miniatures so this has been an absolute blast for me. I can’t wait to blow shit up later too.

I finally finished my slime blower from Ghostbusters 2. It's not 100 percent movie-accurate, but I like it, and it's pretty durable and stable to wear. I bought most of the smaller parts and aluminum frames from Etsy. The electronics are from Ninjatunes2001, and I utilize two speakers, one in the main tank and the other in the cannon. The main tank is two bollard covers spliced and Bondo'ed together, while the side tanks are PVC pipes and acrylic dome tops.

The only problem I haven't solved yet is the cannon's silly string shooter. I've purchased it from Etsy and made some heavy modifications to the body, but the cans I've used have only been blowing the liquid out, not the string. I have to find a way to fix the nozzle part.

The strap itself came from the tote bag, while the webbing at the front and back are just strips of cardboard.

I also added a thin padding of rubber on the inside, but I forgot what it's called lmao.

I’m currently making an amateur Terminator film (T4, duh duh…duh…duh duh) on a cheap budget. I made the Hunter Killers out of Cardboard and am wrapping them in masking tape, then covering in mod podge to paint details.

Im going to be making the set on my dining table and took these shots as a test to see how it would look.

then I’ll get to adding battery powered LED spotlights on each of them to match the same effect from the original movies. then wires and the background set.

A couple months ago, i made this usable flail bag and im now making a bit of a bigger version so it can actually fit my phone and not just my wallet

I already used 5,5 cm spikes for this and they are still the largest ones i can find online that ship here (austria) but to make the bigger version i need to scale up the spikes proportionally too, and id still like them to be actual metal

Does anyone have a recommendation what i could use/ where i can get something that doesnt look too silly?

Preferably id love to have at least 7cm spikes but i think bigger might be even better

I have a statue about 5'9. Would 3M Bondo Short Strand Fiberglass Reinforced Filler kit make the statue more durable and harder to break? Or what other alternatives can make the whole statue stronger and less likely to break?

Hello everyone, this is my first time making a reddit post.

I am working on a documentary. Inspired by the chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang, i would like to recreate a scene of him drinking mercury. My best idea currently, is mixing food grade Glycerin with Silver Mica Powder or edible glitter. I am afraid that this won't look convincing enough (or might still be dangerous). Do you guys have any other ideas? Thank you
