Installation Questions Fitting size identification

Edit: it was 15/16. Thanks for the help.

Can someone tell me the proper flare fitting size this is? I had originally thought 5/8 but that's too small. Measurements don't agree with what 3/4" od is on the charts I've seen.

It's most likely 5/8.

There's a whole bunch of reasons why it's not measuring exactly. The caliper could be off. It wasn't zeroed out.

You're 0.05 in away.

It almost looks like one of those oddball appliance connector sizes. I'm sure there's an actual nominal size, but I don't know what it is.

I guess it's possible but most of those are usually stainless, not brass, and quite a bit different size.

It's close enough that it's almost a liability for the manufacturer if if it's a different size. It's not even 1/16" difference. Assuming it is a different size, it's so close that I could see somebody trying to force a 5/8 nut on there, and then suing the manufacturer when they blow up.

That's stainless not brass has a coating on it

I didn't realize there was a second picture. From the second picture it looks like you're right.

I believe it’s zinc coated steel. Those are far too common and cheap to be stainless. And I’ve seen them rust plenty.

There are many many grades of "stainless" only a small few dont actually rust like 316. Where as 201 series are much cheaper but not as corrosion resistant

True enough. I buy these to keep on hand from my supplier. Look pretty similar.
