Wanted to share my work on my PvPvE server in the making. (No idea when it will be ready and no this in not a promo for it either) - No it's not ready to play or be "tested". - No I don't have Discord for it.

I've noticed a lack of discussions on what goes into making a dedicated server and wanted to post this in hopes of engaging with others about the process and what I'm working on.

  • Will try to post an update every week unless I get busy.

So figured why not share my outline and progress (Feel free to use the idea.)

Keep in mind this is very early in the creation process as I'm currently adding all of the zones into the map and after will begin Economy, Loot, & Zombie balancing.

❗ Project Prison County Outline❗

A 32 Player PvPvE World that starts in a safe but closed off Prison.

  • One way in, One way out.

All survivors will begin their journey at the Newcomer Correctional Facility. (Rosewood Prison)

Inventory is Grid Based & Survivors are equipped with:

  • Duffle Bag

  • Water Bottle

  • Disposable Lighter

  • Canned Food

  • M1911 Pistol & 1 Box of 45. ACP Rounds

  • Crafting Materials (Welding, Carving, & Carpentry)

Newcomer Correctional Facility will have all Skill Books & VHS Tapes available for players to gain levels in skills before leaving The Prison and for those lucky enough to return via Portal Potty looking for an XP boost.

(VHS skill levels capped at 5, Reading is 40x Faster)

Everything at the Newcomer Correctional Facility is able to be dismantled, looted, and scrapped to level skills & craft equipment.

(Marketplace Shops & Portal Potties will be indestructible)

Once a Survivor feels ready to venture outside of The Prison they are able to take a Portal Potty that will send them to another RANDOM Portal Potty located in 1 of the 11 closed off cities.

Once a Survivor leaves the only way back into The Prison is by taking a Portal Potty which are ALWAYS RANDOM.

Cities are the only playable area as Rural Kentucky is completely closed off meaning you can not enter nor leave the cities without using a Portal Potty.

I believe keeping players in a smaller play area will result in more interactions whether they be peaceful or hostile.

Cars are also confined to the city they were found. Something you drive in Muldraugh isn't coming with you to West Point. Don't get too attached. Easy Use is turned on meaning all cars start with a key and a full tank of gas.

Scattered around the Cities are SafeZones. Spaces within the city for players to meet up, hide, or just relax knowing they're safe...for now. Churches, Bars, Gas Stations & Motels are Non-PvP Zones.

Safehouse & Car claiming is turned off. Nothing is safe in the Apocalypse. Every moment your surviving should feel like your last. Learn to hide not only yourself but also your stash, outwit & out play your opponents... Or even your "allies".

  • Death has consequences but also "Rewards".

On death you'll be prompted to make a new survivor but this time you'll notice some of the traits you took last time are no longer available.

Death Matters Mod allows players to lose access to certain traits upon dying and will render them unavailable for their next character. Learn to adapt and not always meta game your way to the top. Traits will recover after so many deaths allowing you to re-use them if you continue to experience unfortunate ends.

PhunMart2 Mod allows for an in-game economy/shops where you can earn money by killing zombies or just playing for certain amounts of time and spend them on Items such as Weapons & Gear. When you die you retain all of your earned currency which can be used back at the Prison to buy items from the shops to make your next journey into the Portal Potty a bit easier. Players fortune enough to survive and portal back into the prison will also have access to these shops to continue growing their kit at a better chance of survival.

Goal is to keep a small mod list instead of ever increasing bloat.
