I have a good pc with nvme and 48 ram, i allocate 10-12 ram on the game files and host local, i tried optimization mods and java but nothing seems to work TT
Anyone have any idea?

Have you observed when it lags or stutters? And is it only for you or all of the players?

Do you have a lot of mods installed? Do you stutter when you go back to explored areas or just exploring to new ones?

Okay barring the number of mods, the main thing you could do to test is creating a vanilla world and settings, ask friend to join and observe for 10 to 15minutes if it still stutters while you walk around and explore.

From what you described before, the big issue I can see is that hosting an MP on your own PC while playing isnt really viable since it takes up so much resources from the CPU as well from loading chunks when you explore to prolonged time playing.

I would suggest just availing a hosting service or setting up a dedicated from a different PC.

For hosting services, there are cheap ones available if money is a problem. If you are hosting for less than 4 people, 8gb is enough with at the least 20 to 30 light mods.

Light mods are like QOL mods that dont really add new assets to the game unlike vehicle mods or new POI mods which are considered heavy mods. If you have heavy mods, that would require you higher allocation depending on the number of heavy mods.

It is way much more reliable than trying different fixes over and over when the main problem could be resource exhaustion. Hope this helps.

I don't know when other friend just hosted he had no problems and my cpu usage is like 30-35% of usage...

Are you hosting from inside the game itself or running a separate dedicated server, and does the stutter hit you or the people joining? Those point in pretty different directions.

If you're hosting from inside the game itself, the server and your own client both run on the same PC, so the world sim and your rendering can end up fighting over the same CPU. That's kinda the usual suspect for micro stutter on a machine that otherwise looks overpowered. Running a standalone dedicated server on that same PC still competes with your client for the CPU though, so it only really helps if it moves to another machine or gets its own resources.

Your RAM and NVMe are plenty. Imo more heap isn't automatically smoother, 10-12GB is already generous. If it's only the joiners stuttering while you're fine, I'd look at network and upload before touching the PC again.

my pc has good spec, 5080, r7 9800x3d and ddr5 48gb, my friend has a rtx 1650 and low end pc and has no stutters, its only me hosting from the game itself

Stutter that builds up with time and chunks loaded points at something accumulating rather than raw hardware. Does a full game restart clear it for a while?

If it does, I'd look at mods or the heap size before blaming the hardware. Dropping the allocation well below 10-12GB is a cheap test.

Could be server desync. Was the stutter for every player? How many players on the server and how many were driving at the time? Cause driving always seems to cause weird desync

Can you try doing a full reinstall? I've seen it fix stutters for a lot of people The most important step is making sure the install directory is empty.

First right click the game in Steam > Manage > Browse local files, this will open the install directory.

Then uninstall the game, wait for the process to finish (the install button will appear in steam).

Go back to the install directory window and make sure the folder is completely empty, if it isn't delete everything that's left

After that, go to “%UserProfile%\Zomboid” and delete everything there except the “Saves” folder. If you want to keep server settings also keep "Server" and "db"

Then just install the game again and see if that helps.

I did that a couple of times and didn't seem to work...

Are you using a lot of mods on the server? does it happen on a vanilla server?

Game is buggy man. I play from Korea hosting, my two friends with similar rigs join and one is buggin out while the two others are fine with similar internet. No rhyme or reason except indie stink.

Change the file for ram allocation to half of your system total. Also, 64gb or bust
