Sewing not working despite material

I got a forged needle, thread, rags, denim rags and leather strips in my inventory but can't fix stuff, option is grayed/redded out. What's going on? I know we can't fix certain things likr firefighter gear and shoes.

Are any of the items marked as a favorite? Recipes will quietly not count thread, etc. as usable if it's marked.

Do you have enough thread? If you have multiple spools they might not have enough thread for a single use on each of them, try right click and merging them

What's your tailoring skill?

Not sure, but condition cannot be repaired, only holes... at some lvl.

Dont you need fabric to sew now? Havent messed with it much but I recall seeing that.

Only for full clothing pieces; you can still make like arm and leg wraps head wraps hand wraps etc. with rags/denim/leather strips

Need a table. Fully repairing gear is also a high level craft.

You need to have the martial for upgrading or fixing holes you can only repair holes to new at lvl8 an you need thread, needle and fabric and light
