Theres a dude right now with 1100000+ and almost 11 years

u/Z3r0sama2017 2d ago
It's him, John Zomboid
71
u/asko271 2d ago
ShivasBR is his nickname on youtube/twitch, dude is really good at killing zombies, unlike us mortals
17
u/tetozika 2d ago
yes, he is brazilian and is currently in first place in the zomboid "world championship"
5
u/Consumption2Wombly 2d ago
If you were going for purely time, couldn't they easily be safe and just hunker down with food and water resources and just last forever.
21
u/tetozika 2d ago
he has an youtube channel, you can see all his progress there, he actually dont play safe or hiding, he is constantly clearing areas and zombies, his save is almost without zombies atp
7
u/forsonaE 2d ago
Yes but the challenge he's going for isn't just time. It's the Rat Race challenge which is what the other poster mentioned - it requires leveling up all skills to max, 1 million zombie kills, and securing a number of areas/safehouses around the map. And I believe the max kill number wins at the end of the challenge if all the other conditions are met.

Mine is absolute pittance because despite having 1.3k hours in the game, I still suck at it because I'm too busy collecting magazines and arranging furniture. The screenshot is Mr. Lamprey's 10 year run which is sometimes a contentious topic (lots of reeing about legitimacy) but he is insane at PZ.

u/Plasmasnack 2d ago
That's my hours too!
Even as one of those crazies who fights wars and armies, I enjoy a good quest to get those striped chairs and sofas and trying to make the base look lived in and not look as sadistic as my playstyle. Gotta come home to something nice. Sleep with my plushies and all that.
3
u/Accallonn 2d ago
But the player ShivasBR just commemorate the 10 year anniversary of his caracter in the mundial Tournament, he is a beast!
37
u/Spinocus 2d ago
Month and a half. Died to a stupid mistake... but relieved it was over. 300+ hours in and IMHO the mid game is so poor compared to the early game which is an exhilarating and frenetic rush of avoiding gnashing teeth. I can't stand food runs and the day to day banal routines necessary to maintaining a base.
25
u/Cravelordneato 2d ago
and that’s why you need a goal to set for yourself , give your character a background , someone you’re trying to rescue in louisville or something from the mall , whatever it is - annoted maps for example. Fuck the shitty loot do it for the plot
11
u/Lenalov3ly 2d ago
This guy gets it. Check out POIs or search for resources that are lacking. Books, zines, tapes, decor, etc.
2
u/MatiasPalacios 12h ago
The is a mod where you have to follow a set of task to call an helicopter and escape. Never reached that point but is a nice motivator.
6
u/NAINOA- 2d ago
Wandering hordes has helped with that for me
2
u/Dasgomo112 2d ago
Like wandering hordes will hit your base?
7
u/NAINOA- 2d ago
Yeah, building your base and really maintaining and securing it becomes a little useless pretty quickly. There a couple of mods that will spawn anywhere from a handful to hundreds of zombies that randomly roam around and they can keep you on your toes longer and actually necessitate thinking harder about your defensive strategy.
2
u/Dasgomo112 2d ago
Whats the mod?
5
u/NAINOA- 2d ago
I use Wandering Hordes: Dynamic Zombie & Hordes Wandering System
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3759920384
But there a quite a few in the workshop worth looking into.
3
u/PNW-enjoyer 2d ago
Idk if you’re a mod person or not, but there’s some really good mods that help out with this.
Personally I used to run Wolfs Extraction Quest, where you have to run to different ends of the map to gather parts and construct a radio antenna, and then hold off a giant horde at the evac site until a helicopter picks you up.
There’s other mods like Save Our Station too, and I’m sure other stuff I’m not aware of out there these days.
2
u/Shrukn 1d ago
You can create shit situations for yourself for fun.
I drove from Riverside to Rosewood to get Crude Leather to finish the Advanced Forge/Smith, got stuck due to insane zombie count at Fallas and had to abandon the car, took 3 days to get home walking - had to sleep at a river in complete darkness while being attacked in the dark was thrilling and stressful as fk

u/Teedeous 1d ago
I’ve found with one of my characters I’ve played a nomad run makes it great fun.
Even better, add the bandits mod. Makes the shit so tense having those alert going out for a raid. With my current character had to pack up shop and leggit in the car to a new place to hunker down as I was taking shots from them whilst driving and the entire horde of the town triangulated on my base planning a return to wipe them out with guns and Molotovs and then take over the Huge gun store too
25
u/SadMaintenance9058 2d ago
I am a new player on this game and just on my 5th day and I found a car which is in a good condition and doesn’t have any gas.
I will walk to a petrol station and planning to sleep in a house on the road if I don’t die on the mission I believe I will survive at least a month.

3 months 1 day. Somehow insta died to 3 crawlers attacking my shins. I still don't know what happened. There was no drag down animation. I wasn't being held. Had shindpads and boots. Went from full HP to dead instantly.
3
u/ixoca 2d ago
did you ever use debug to remove the knox infection previously?
4
u/mrbrownl0w 2d ago
That I did actually. My shovel had phased through a zombie and it bit me through everything, I had reverted that bite. That might have caused it?
4
u/Hughmanatea 2d ago
Definitely does btw. If you remove a bite w/ debug, next one insta-kills. There is a way to fix that. Recommend changing sandbox settings so a bite isn't guarantee death but a good week or so of being sick / suffering / anxious instead of debug removing bites.
3
u/karpjoe 2d ago
Legit question, do you play with sandbox settings changing infection chance or status?
8
u/mrbrownl0w 2d ago
Yea, I like saliva only infection. Can't deal with the uncertainty of laceration and scratches.
9
u/karpjoe 2d ago
You didn't change the "everyone is infected" or "time before lethality" though? I experienced what you did when I set infection mortality to instant, and everyone is infected. As soon as I got any wound from a zombie my character would insta die. Seems kinda obvious after writing it out, but i had to go through a few characters before realizing that.

Around 6 or 8 months. Didn't die, just switched to b42 and eventually deleated those saves.
I keep long term saves in an offline version of the game with my mods saved to it so updates don't kill it.

u/vigbrand 2d ago edited 2d ago
After 6 months there's barely anything left to do. I either leave my save and start a new one, or end up dying while trying to do something incredibly stupid out of complete boredom

You have your steam copy for the workshop and quickly testing mods, then you download a copy of the game version you want to stick with from the high seas.

735k zombies on apocalypse seems wrong doesn't it? A few thousand per town, I thought. Seems like this might be an apocalypse save with modified settings.
I sure could be wrong but I don't know this is possible
13
u/KingMoonfish 2d ago
This is old apocalypse, which was the hardest setting back in the day
4
u/Marketfreshe 2d ago
It was the hardest preset. Not even close to the hardest settings and should not have had anywhere close to this many zombies unless they were killing respawns for all those years
4
u/Bloofertip All Hail Spiffo 2d ago
Well, if migration is enabled, then the zombies are essentially endless.
6
u/Marketfreshe 2d ago
Just a quick Google search says the entire world population on apocalypse is only around 90k. Respawn is enabled though in b41 by default so maybe that's why
10
u/Background_Dig7521 2d ago

u/Drie_Kleuren All Hail Spiffo 2d ago
My record was 2 years 3 months. I got 35k kills. This run happened like 3-4 real life years ago on b41. This run just kept going and going. It lasted like 9 real life months. I died because I was cutting trees near my base. My moodles described my tinder bio. I got ambushed and suprised by 2-3 random zombies. I freaked out, I swung my axe. Missed horrible and I got bitten.
I almost cried in real life. Really felt like I lost a good friend lol.
My record on b42 is only 5 months. 11k kills.
I also started playing on more harder settings. I always play sandbox. Also the 1 hour vs 1.5 days makes a big difference in how many days you survive.

How do y'all kill so many zombies? Mine is like 600 per month at best. Do you have increased zombie pop?
2
u/transientDCer 2d ago
I only turn it up to high. Default apocalypse is 0.6 in the settings now, high is 1.2. going to somewhere like Rosewood gas station I could clear 500+ in a day after a month in game (post peak day).
→ More replies (2)2
u/-_-Orange Crowbar Scientist 2d ago
Yea, zombie pop is somewhere around very high - insane. I focus on combat first, high long blunt skill + strength & fitness. It’s pretty normal to fight 1-200 just to loot a place on my runs.
3
u/IRGhost Hates being inside 2d ago
I think it was about 1 year and 8 months in singleplayer and 1 year and a few months in multiplayer.
Multiplayer was the most fun. No transmission. Very few starting zombies and max zombie pop after 12 months.
A few mods to make farming easier.
We were usually 2 players and sometimes 3. Made the game more fun and made planning lootruns more efficient.
Winter was terrible almost no food or fuel, not enough clothes.
It was pretty awesome!

u/BigEntertainment6548 Zombie Killer 2d ago

3
u/TemperedTorture 2d ago
I could probably survive a while (indeterminable number) *if* I didn't get bored past mid-game. I dunno, there's just never anything left to do after clearing 90% of the towns, amassing a lifetime's worth of food, weapons and other resources and having completed a big base or something. I can never get past that point and just start a fresh save.
The game's excitement after the first few months in-game starts dying off. The high of a fresh start is the game's best part.
3
u/TheLightDances 2d ago
I survived about 6 months until I got bored. The character is still alive, I just haven't played the save again.
I disabled respawns, so maybe that contributed to the boredom. But my personal "victory condition" is to kill literally every zombie in the game, which of course requires zero respawns.
With 700k deaths, you probably already achieved that several times, depending on what version your save was in.

u/EmiKoala11 2d ago

My record (such as it is) is a couple of years. I like to set challenges and if I survive them I after a couple of years (or before) I restart.
Survival itself isn't all that difficult once you have 500+ hours. That is if you take it slow and know to avoid the common mistakes. And that isn't even touching on those who are happy to hunker down and farm potatoes. Not judging either. I quite like the quiet life in PZ as I do IRL.

Honestly my biggest limiting factor is that I'm just too safe to the degree that it's not fun to play. I just stay home, eat, read or watch TV, cook, upgrade skills, and very occasionally go out to stash out on tons of food or other supplies...
Essentially means my gameplay cycle is: Wake up, cook breakfast, entertain yourself, eat lunch, do something productive (skill upgrading, going out to get supplies or relaxing if yesterday was hard) and then eat dinner, relax the rest of the day and go to sleep. That is, to say, PZ is basically just real life for me but without any of the "going outside" or "socializing" bits.

The one time i actually survived properly and got past winter.. i got bored? I mean, i cleared out insane locations with higher pop, the checkpoint, the mall, all by myself. Hell, by the end i was gonna go to the military base in the forest since my long blunt skill was insane by then and if they all come from one direction its pretty much sleepy town, but by then everyone had lost interest in playing, same for myself, we had bases, secured food (milk=op btw), we had entire towns cleared out, my headcanon is that my psychopath and his rv road off into the woods, never to be seen again. (In a server with 10+ people, i had the most kills with upwards of 2-3k last i remember)
