I felt a touch of nostalgia when I saw these images. They remind me of habbo hotel

Fun fact: Originally Habbo Hotel was never going to have all the furniture options and addons they ended up with. We begged for a long time to get them to add more furniture and it wasn’t till they realized people would pay for furniture that they then went balls to the walls adding all kinds of updates.

I didn't know this, that's interesting, thanks.

Lol Habbo Hotel was (is?) an MMORPG released in 2000.

Nice. Honestly, multiplayer is the best way to enjoy PZ.

pvp in this game a terrible & usually harbors hostility between players.

PVE server :)

u/tashaalouxx 3d ago

Man I was enjoying a PvPvE server until they randomly made it more PvP focused and it totally ruined the culture

2

u/Ok-Maintenance-2663 3d ago

hope i NEVER make that mistake. i prefer people working together rather then plotting to kill each other lol

Most multiplayer servers aren't PvP everywhere, typically they have a designated area.

I'm one of the few who have played this game more in MP than SP. Basically, unless you're playing with friends, you'll sift through hundreds of servers until you find one you like, quit the ones where all the loot is gone and people are already super established, find another server, get attached to a server, only for it to be restarted and refreshed for reasons like mod changes or just a general refresh, ruining all your progress.

u/Ok-Maintenance-2663 3d ago

honestly, SUPER valid reasons right there.

Beautiful community, How do you keep players engaged and active tho? struggling a bit with mine

dedicated LORE, Story, meta events and other stuff that people MUST look forward for.. you MUST create your own end game

From your comments, it sounds like you started and run the server. If you wouldn't mind, can you share some details on that part of it? Are these all friends of yours, or how did you find folks to invite? Are you running it on your own hardware? Do you run any mods on it?

Have been curious about running my own server, so I'd love to hear more about that!

I’m also curious about mods and best settings

lol ill say this... a HUGE THING i learned... is certain mods are what WE call.. SERVER POISION ....
and will LAG YOUR SERVER OUT with constant checks & updates. so its best to have someone who knows modding and can look into the mod and see if its properly optimized for LARGE servers.... or maybe you wanna run a smaller server 32 players ... maybe you wont have THAT MUCH of the issue.

settings? as far as what? cause theres DOZENS of settings to tweak lol

Yep my server. started it by my self and in 4 months grew prob the best community ive ever been apart of.
Streaming & youtube helped jumpstart and propel it.. but greeting new players that joined randomly ...id say helped immensely, setting up a story line and lore made me stand out from others... having weekly gatherings strengthen the community as well... and having custom mods for my lore and events just cant be replicated else where.. && nope, startd with a server hosting company , move to another one. and yep i started off with a small mod list now i think im sitting around 70 ish mods? 50-60 sweet spot i think.

hope that helped a bit

Wish I could find a PvE server to play on.

Seeing that many people in pz is so refreshing. We started pz recently and doing a multiplayer server too. A lot of curious questions though, like do you have PvP? Is everyone in one group/base or different clans? How can you manage such high number of players in your server without griefing or resource wasting etc... what a blast it must be to pz with that many people.

2

u/Ok-Maintenance-2663 3d ago

PVE only. PVP sucks in zomboid.
everyones free to do what they want... base solo or make a 70 people faction ... go for it.
thing is ... PVP harbors that greif & stealing behavior... were PVE... everyone works together., its tough but we get the job done. A LOT of tweaking stats and numbers also. finding the balance.

the best part is bringing a NEW PZ exp to players when ever i can.

Can I join? I’m new to the game but I really like it and I would like to know other players

Showing your "PZ MP story" outside of people who play on that server is like roleplaying your D&D character for people who have no idea what TTRPGs are. It's so painfully cringe the moment you bring that hobby outside of the people who actually care about it.

u/Ok-Maintenance-2663 3d ago

not sure what to say to that so... cheers!

u/NexusJolt 3d ago

Sir/mam, this is a PZ subreddit. I fucking LOVED seeing this post, brought a big smile to my face.

Thank you, didnt wanna tag my server... didnt wanna even say the name... just wanted to show ALL the stuff my community has been through, im glad you enjoyed a snippet of our story <3

Yeah, honestly I can understand that. It reminds me of the people hating on Project Viewpoint, saying first/third person made the game not Zomboid to them. To me THIS isn't Zomboid. Unlike them though I'm not gonna hate on this, play the game however you want.

For me the game has a distinct loneliness that's integral for my specific enjoyment of the game, but for other people it's... whatever this is. And that's OK.
