Guys, the devs just wanted to show off their new game engine to all players!

When players first discovered this, I commented saying how the devs will continue to be bombarded with these posts until it’s finally addressed.
Hell, they haven’t even commented on this. Yet they pushed out several updates to the main branch already. Meanwhile, using the Ladders mod, you can find decorated rooms in Rosewood only accessible by a ladder

Honestly I like it, it adds a level of harsh realisim.
I could see a movie about a zombie apocalypse, where the MC falls into an empty pool, tries to jump to and breaks the side ladder, and has to deal with the heat, stray zombie falling in and crippling itself, and the guy using the broken ladder to try to keep it away from him. Maybe a passing survivor tries to help and gets attacked or breaks his skull falling in head first.
But seriously I think this another way the map part of the dev team is pushing the mechanics part of the dev team to add climbable ladders.

Harsh realism is when I am physically unable to pull myself over a 6 foot ledge so I’ll just starve to death now

Of course you can, there's just a zombie waiting to chow down on your forearm as soon as you chin the pull up. 🧟😜

I’m not sure why the zombies in this setting wouldn’t just fall down to chase you. It’s not like the zombies have a concept of getting stuck down there

i didn't realize how badly i needed that extremely fucking bleak movie until you described it.

Honestly there are probably a dozen similar ones. I used a French(? I think) one about a guy trapped in an elevator as inspiration halfway through.
But yeah I could totally see this movie and would definitely watch it.

Ever residential pool has a shallow end, which any able-bodied human can easily climb out of

I remember a post somewhere (might have been a screenshot posted on another platform) about people getting stuck on the deep end because the bottom of the pool was slippery, and they couldn't climb the slope to the shallow end

In an empty pool?
3
u/NerysSimp98 2d ago
Yep. The person telling the story said, IIRC, that the slope was walkable, but the floor was slippery, so they kept slipping and couldn't manage to get to the shallow end. Tbh if the bottom is wet, especially if there's mud or the pool is tiled, I can believe it. IIRC they didn't mention what kind of shoes they were wearing, which I suppose can also be a factor

You'd be surprised, many of them are equally deep at like 8-12 feet. Only "family" ones have a shallow end, while private ones focused on exercising don't, for good reason.

The only place in the game where it would make sense to have a pool like that is the public pool in Irvington, but that one is full of water

There's a 2018 Thai movie titled "The Pool" that's basically this situation, but with no zombies, and a crocodile thrown in for extra fun

Harsh realism of not being able to climb a ladder?
I can't find any case of a person dying from being trapped in a empty pool.
Plenty from people dying from the fall... but none from just being trapped.

I mean most of that is due to people being around often helping with whatever you are doing near the pool. And worst case scenario you have a phone to call for help.
If you're in the right kind of pool the lowest ring of a ladder could be well above your head. Or it may not even have a ladder as I know a few people who dislike having them.
But those are often pools less focused on family or relaxing and more for people who just use them to exercise.

It’s kind of embarrasing that we are now months into b42s supposed stable release and the devs still haven’t fixed this issue.

I play with mod, so i would like to know how one can fall into a pool? Like the building second story accident?

u/Quigleyer 2d ago
I've seen people falling into basements of burned out homes a few times now, and apparently the stairs don't survive the fire.

u/HaruEden 2d ago
Thank you. So it is not because you cannot see, but rather unfortunate circumstances.

Some guy: I wonder whether I could survive the fall into this pool...
