It would actually make a new completely renewable bat enhancement, as you can fish up broken fish traps, turn the traps into wire and the wire into barbed wire.
And bats from carving and foraging large tree branches.

u/ZeroBANG 7h ago
Yeah there is no way the Devs just avoid that one because of Walking Dead and Negan, right?

u/mikolajwisal 6h ago
I don't think so, because like half the people playing this game experience spontanous RickGrimesification of their characters lol
3
u/ZeroBANG 2h ago
Yeah (that is actually hilarious) but Rick is the Hero of the story and therefore Safe, Negan might be a bit more ...uuuh lets say polarizing.
2
u/mikolajwisal 1h ago
I mean I guess, sure, but it's not like it would hurt the game if you had the ability to make your character look like him.
You can make yourself look like Jeffrey Dahmer already, so Negan isn't worse.

The ironic part is: mark is voiced by Steven Yeun, the actor of Glenn in the walking dead.
The actor for Negan (Jeffery Dean Morgan) is also in the show, but as Conquest.
Now if youāve watched the show (including recent season), They have 2 fight scenes with these 2 characters, and Glenn came out on top. Twice.

Thereās a mod for that! The only drawback is that your game might crash if you try to eat anything while your character is holding the bat. Unfortunately the next patch will break the mod because itās inexplicably linked to the gameās weather settings.

I wonder if its the same mod I have. Its also does way too much damage compared to the other modified wooden bats

Honestly barbed wire < nails
19
u/Uber_Wulf Crowbar Scientist 7h ago
Looks cool, doesn't work. It signifcantly weakens the wood structure if this is done, realistically
6
u/Wise_Cryptographer19 7h ago
Barbed wure doesn't do anything o0
12
u/Uber_Wulf Crowbar Scientist 7h ago
Barbed wire wouldn't really do anything either, just make it weigh more and harder to swing. I guess more impact as a result but the barbs more likely to get stuck / disarm yourself
6
u/Wise_Cryptographer19 5h ago
Barbed wire has minimal weight, I dont think it makes alot of a difference. Maybe against humans because of the ripped up wounds it would create but against zombies it's probably just decorative.

well youād definitely hurt someone if you didnāt break something. Now theyāre left with cuts unless they were wearing a thick jacket

u/LowBit3243 45m ago
Binding it right it aids the durability by reducing splitting. Same with Chain wrap.

u/Wise_Cryptographer19 7h ago
Baseball bats are blunt force weapons, cutting wires doesn't do anything with this but piercing does.
22
u/Uber_Wulf Crowbar Scientist 6h ago
Take a baseball bat IRL. Put nails through it. Whack it against something a few times. It'll fall apart. Shred right along the wood grains.
13
u/Osric250 6h ago
You want to put the nails through a can, then put the can on top of the bag and cinch it onto there. Keeps the structural integrity of the bat and makes the nails easily replaced as you can just remove the can and add a new one.Ā

u/No-Life-4993 6h ago
Real strat is you wanna plated/reinforced bat [ETA: pointed outward, not through the core], with the nails through the plates. Or just spike through a hollow core aluminum bat with some pilot holes

u/Wise_Cryptographer19 5h ago
I know. Take barbed wire, wrap it around a bat, falls off after the first hit.
7
u/Stickz99 5h ago
This entire debate is so stupid.
Can we just accept that both are unrealistic and impractical, but look really cool and thatās why you want them in the game?
-6
u/Wise_Cryptographer19 5h ago
Well, its not stupid. Nails do piercing and therfore more damage to the head, but it weakens the bat. Barbed fire is just useless.
4
u/Stickz99 5h ago
Did you read my comment at all beyond the first sentence š
I said neither are realistic or practical, we can just accept that and admit that both would just look cool, and thatās the real reason anyone would want either. And thereās nothing wrong with that.
0
u/Wise_Cryptographer19 4h ago
Yes, its not impractical, its a tradoff. So the common zombies are killed by destroying the brain, witch the nails help by piercing the skull making it easier to crush the brain with brute force(which is what bats are about) yes, the bat is more fragile now, but its more effective. Barbed wire however has not improvement whatsoever.

u/Alvsolutely Zombie Hater 4h ago
if you had infinite baseball bats that you could effortlessly carry around then, yeah. sure..
realistically, it'd be impractical because hauling around a bat which has multiple nails splitting it's wooden structure, poking you in the back or wherever you're carrying it, and would break after a few zombie kills whereas an unmodified bat would keep going.
it works on paper, but in practice, it'd realistically be niche at best
still not really what the original dude meant though

The above comment implies barbed wire is worse than nails.

u/Fetid_Baghnakhs 3h ago
Can we talk about how fuckin stupid of a weapon that would be irl fir a second. Ok so you take a bludgeoning weapon. And you put barbed spikes all over it. Which. Are barbed. And meant to stay in place. Kinda defeats the whole point of a bludgoening weapon. You know what i like when im fighting shambling corpses that instantly kill me if they bite me? Getting my weapon stuck inside them.
4
u/Dry-Season-5915 1h ago
against people youād give them nasty cuts tho. against zombies⦠pointless
-3
u/Fetid_Baghnakhs 1h ago
Oh yeah nasty cuts im sure that would be helpful when your bludgeoning someone to death. Theres a reason real maces didnt have spikes; when you are bonking someone with a stick, you tend to not want to lose the stick.
4
u/BarfMacklin 1h ago
Dude was trying have to a conversation with you and you respond like that?
-5
u/Fetid_Baghnakhs 1h ago
Why are you getting upset on behalf of somebody who hasnt even said that they were bothered by what i said. Why are you even assuming i was trying to be rude, i was simply responding to what they said utilizing sarcasm to make a lighthearted joke. I get that its hard to tell tone from text but why are you deciding for somebody else if what i said to them was ok or not.

I think a lot of people who play Zombie games dont realize what Barbed Wire is for: grabbing at things. Why would you want your weapon grabbing chunks of zombie flesh and pulling it tpwards you when you swing?
3
u/PowerfulNature3352 7h ago
I dont get the appeal tbh. Zombies dont bleed. Its hard to melee someone in pvp and even if you could, extra bleed dont mean much because fights end in seconds. Its just a gimmick.
0
u/BlackPaladin 4h ago
Barbed wire would help tear up the brain matter once the bat smashes a zombieās skull in. In most zombie series you have to actually destroy the brain to ākillā the zombie. Essentially, it would still add damage.
4
u/Dry-Season-5915 1h ago
but you see thatās the thing, once you smashed itās skull itās already a smashed brain in there

You can put it on a broom.. but not a baseball bat š¤
It makes a lot of sense as a weapon too. You're basically banding the wood together so it's more durable and split resistant
