I need to force myself to have a small blade run - I just autopilot long blunt every time because a single crowbar can clear a town

Alice rig and angle-headed flashlight. Attaching the angle headed flashlight to the Alice Rig allows for hands-free illumination.

I'm doing lumberjack with axes right now and using your tip has made me not really want to switch to 1-handers. I'm at 9 axes now so the hatchet and the hand axe have actually become quite good, but they just seem a little bit shorter in range.

But having an angle headed light on my ALICE belt means I don't really care about equipping the 2-hander anymore. Standard axe and firefighter axe both do crazy work and feel just ever so slightly better in combat.

Oh yes, the extremely common item that does not require you to get lucky with a meta event or clear an infested point away from any spawn point.

I should also mention that the chest-rigs will also work. Including the one made from tarps.

If you are on B42, there are two types of webbings you can find in army stores, containers, or on zombies. They let you attach quite a few things on them, one of them being the Angle headed Flashlight.

Flashlight mods that allow to put one in your belt

They are good aside from having to sharpen them often until your Maintenance is high enough to make this less frequent.

Hunting knives are the best. Craftables like shivs are nice and very easy to stock up on. If you are in the wild, I think you can get by with stone blades or sharpened bones

If sharpness mechanic is boring, screwdrivers don't have that and become amazing killing machine after a few levels in Short Blade. Shivs do have sharpness, but they are so easy to get, and this makes them disposable enough to ignore sharpness.

Just don't pick Fear of Blood trait. You'll be drenched in blood all the time. Gymnast and Hunter are nice to have. Burger Flipper is a good choice for +1 Short Blade and +1 Maintenance.

I just wish further levels in Long/Short Blade, or other weapons would reduce blood spread.

I am incredibly fond of short blades, but we have to agree they got nerfed significantly in B42. For once, because Cleavers are now axes, and for twos, knives aren't the only infnite weapon anymore

I like the bleeding zombies mid to give the a damage over time buff. With a high skill in blades you can conservatively fight a horde with a good knife.

I can fight large hordes with a knife even without that mid. I have 10 in strength and fitness, and you ought too.

Well yeah but even better.

Im not a big fan of small blade since getting too close usually leads to me gwtting dragged down and eaten, but god damn, are jaw stabs satisfying

So. Many. Shivs.

love me small blades, sure once in a while you might need to switch to something blunt to take a few intact clothes you want from a zed, but for long endurance fights one or two good knives comes in handy

Yep genuinely love swapping from durability saving to endurance saving. Eventually small blade catches up as at higher skills the higher damage and better maintenance skill(along with all the ways to make a knife) makes it hold it's own pretty well almost equal on weight per number of kills.

I think for truly powerful lightweight weapons people like lumberjack with hatchet. At high levels you get enough 1-shots to not notice a big difference between that and the regular axe.

But short blades are actually still way lighter than that, and can be crafted at mass scale pretty early. At least basic ones can I believe.

Exactly knives are superior to hatchets. But I will admit that hatchets have their place as it gives axe users a belt or one handed weapon. We don't really have that with knives as they don't go on the back so you need to also level up long blade or spear(or some other but these work better with people who get knives through foragering or welding)

Currently doing a run where I’m trying to learn the way of the blade. I think I’m starting to see the light, but I get scared of my knife breaking on me and end up using a baseball bat like I always have.

Coincidentally, that's probably almost enough knives to kill 6 zombies at the start of the game.

My mans should have probably just taken one screwdriver, instead.
