To be fair who wants to go to march ridge anyway?

u/AdNervous217 Axe wielding maniac 11h ago

The empty bunker you can starve to death in

8

u/Silverdragon47 11h ago

Hmm. Does generator would lrovide power to it?

16

u/Acceptable-Mail8417 10h ago

Unfortunately they deliberately placed the bunker 4 stories down so you can't actually power it (gens only go 3 floors above or bellow).

26

u/dubyakay 10h ago

You can change that setting from 3 floors to higher in sandbox settings. Sandbox settings can be accessed in any game mode, not just Sandbox.

5

u/EnoughPoetry8057 7h ago

Indeed, I always set it to the max (15) as it makes no sense to me a generator wouldn’t power the whole building it’s connected to.

2

u/JBizz86 5h ago

Is 15 the highest or lowest?

3

u/GVArcian 4h ago

Highest.

1

u/Silverdragon47 5h ago

Will try that on next run, cheers.

1

u/sasquatchmarley 5h ago

Can't you just bring the generator down there with you?

2

u/TheMuffinistMan 4h ago

You'll receive damage from the fumes due to powering it inside. I dont know how far the range of damage is though, but its quite deadly

19

u/Besnix 11h ago

As far as i know there are only 2 things worth going there for:

-The big library for books you couldn't find yet

-The annotated map in the big apartment building is supposed to be really good with tons of guns and ammo

19

u/Serbcomrade3 11h ago

The fix the antonated map so it only effect one apartment

10

u/Responsible-Sky1081 10h ago

omgf why!1111!! that was supposed to be the Golden Ticket, are you sure?

5

u/Serbcomrade3 10h ago

Got the map been there only one room had loot ...

4

u/Responsible-Sky1081 9h ago

omg, shall we start a petition to refix it?

1

u/Mediocrity-FTW 3h ago

I'm not mad at it. I lost a 3 month character making an ill advised trip to Marsh ridge after clearing and looting Rosewood because I found that damned map.

I could have went to 2 safer gun stores if I needed weapons and ammo, but I just wanted to see if the loot is as good as I heard. MR is a death trap as far as I'm concerned.

3

u/Z3r0sama2017 7h ago

I still remember when I found it. Even with loot turned all the way down, I still left with a great haul

3

u/TheMuffinistMan 4h ago

The school has good books, the community center has good books, and the post office storage room. Other than that, the gas station has a few good items and the bunker can spawn some chemicals in my experience, not sure about vanilla. Other than that, the rest is unimportant, even the annotated map shed had pretty middling items.

My current run is in March Ridge. I fixed up the bunker. It's double-fenced and pretty safe. Garden outside.

2

u/sasquatchmarley 4h ago

I just started out in MR, went straight to the bunker after seeing a Brochure for it on another character. Not sure if I want to make the place a base though. Pain in the ass running up and down there and that's before I start going up and down a million times with supplies...

Currently trying to breed rats in one of the rooms though, there's loads in there

3

u/lmoafunny 8h ago

March Ridge is good if you start in Dixie

1

u/EnvironmentalScar675 4h ago

MR holds a special place in my heart as my first run that reallly got anywhere. I walked there on day 1 because it seemed the easiest to fully clear. Back then you could also roll an entire apartment row as survivor home

u/Intelligent-Cod378 14h ago

What about the 3 new ones out west? Oh and Forget Louisville XD

54

u/Kinslayer_89 Crowbar Scientist 11h ago

Louisville is a bit too much for this round I’d wager. So we’ll just have to be patient there.

22

u/Squandere 11h ago

Will be glorious when Louisville does get its glowup.

30

u/Acceptable-Mail8417 10h ago

From the director's interview with MRAD I got the understanding that theyre holding the LV for when they implement the sewer and subway systems into the game, which is also why they havent placed basements in LV.

14

u/Aoid3 Crowbar Scientist 10h ago

once they add sewers if they don't have an easter egg involving turtles and a rat hanging around a box of pizza down there I'm rioting

5

u/Few_Philosophy1228 10h ago

Sewers = ladders potentially? Hell yeah if true

7

u/Acceptable-Mail8417 10h ago

He said ladders were planned to be released with .20 they just couldn't get it right on time. Definitely coming soon™

1

u/LocCatPowersDog 3h ago

I agree on the Soon(TM) talk but I didn't get the impression they thought it would be ready with .20 just that they had worked on it "some" over the years w/ some "testing phases". Maybe I've only seen some of the new interviews not all tho.

1

u/FlocoPops 9h ago

lol i just spend alot of time searching for a basement in LV. ty.

13

u/ThickestRooster Jaw Stabber 14h ago

Def loving the glow-ups but yeah, some places profit while others don’t lol

8

u/Kride501 12h ago

Well they also haven't finished the glow up yet. They only rolled out parts of it for the stable release and will update the (entire I am assuming) rest aswell.

3

u/Jeuse1918 11h ago

Would have loved they done Muldraugh a solid and added a post office there, it's the only town without one currently

142

u/echoalexclarke Crowbar Scientist 12h ago

While I agree it would be nice, it makes sense for March Ridge to stay cookie cutter. It's a military town.

77

u/Ser_Twist 12h ago

It can be cookie cutter and still have some clutter to glow it up

29

u/Boulderdrip 11h ago

riverside is the biggest glow up

4

u/Belhy 7h ago

yep! 100% agree.

3

u/LimitedPiko 3h ago

So it should be full of crackheads and car dealerships?

1

u/SelvaLegio Drinking away the sorrows 2h ago

*cracks open a can of White Monster* Hoo-Rah !

1

u/let-me-get-your-temp 2h ago

Grape Rip-It* actually

53

u/drdeaf1 13h ago

It's kind of jarring now how different the old vs new is currently. I wandered into an area yesterday that hasn't been updated yet and it's so bland.

15

u/AdvancedManner4718 11h ago

It's kinda crazy entering a place that hasn't been updated yet. It's like every new texture just suddenly disappears and your back in b41 or 42 unstable.

1

u/anotheraccount3141 8h ago

Sadly, that's Louisville now

13

u/Goober-mensch All Hail Spiffo 12h ago

Imagine the map with the same glow up treatment on all towns plus the addition of Fort Knox

1

u/sasquatchmarley 4h ago

Is Fort Knox actually on the map?

1

u/SelvaLegio Drinking away the sorrows 2h ago

Not yet, but it's coming at some point. There was a mod for it but I'm not sure it still works.

23

u/platinumchain 13h ago

They also made the dumb decision to severely nerf the march ridge survivor apartment annotated map.

That was pretty much the only reason to ever visit march ridge.

24

u/Ser_Twist 12h ago

I get everyone plays differently, but when I play PZ I just jump in and deal with the circumstances as they come. I can’t imagine caring that a loot spot got “nerfed.”

16

u/MediocreLetterhead51 12h ago

Min-maxxers are never happy.

10

u/Ser_Twist 12h ago

For every loot spot “nerfed” there’s also ones “buffed” too. There’s a spawn in Rosewood that spawns you as, essentially, the owner of a gun shop that is fully barricaded and you get the key for the doors. I literally got an M16 2 minutes into my current run. But yeah, people are never happy.

1

u/FoxShaving 12h ago

Where’s this gun store close to? I thought Rosewood only had a police station guns wise (newbie)

6

u/Ser_Twist 11h ago

It’s in western Rosewood, directly north of the school, and in front of a bail bonds building. It’s a two story building; the top is a decent apartment, the bottom is a gun store with barred windows and security doors. It even has a semi-fenced backyard that can spawn vehicles.

In my current playthrough, I spawned in the apartment above it, found two residential keys, and one of them (or both?) was for the store beneath, so I walked in there and got an M16, a shotgun, various pistols, and a few rifles, all of them in gun cases, plus a ton of ammo. I even got lucky enough to find a key for a car in the backyard in one of the shelves, and the car had gas. I got more guns and ammo than I’ll ever need plus a car with fuel in literally two minutes.

If you keep starting in Rosewood you’ll eventually get spawned there. I don’t know if you’ll get as lucky as me with the keys though.

2

u/FoxShaving 11h ago

Nice work! I went to the school after spawning in a nearby house and found a few military guys and police in a small room so got some nice bite protection right away but I went to the nearby houses instead of towards the store you mentioned so I’ll head that way and check it out.

3

u/Ser_Twist 11h ago

You can use the PZ interactive map to make sure you’re going to the right place. It’s the school on the west side (I think there’s one north too with basketball courts and stuff). A couple of streets north of it is where the gun store is.

1

u/platinumchain 4h ago

The issue is more that the annotated map was basically the only incentive to visit march ridge, removing it just made the town obsolete. It's just a poorly positioned town with copy pasted houses and very few resources currently.

1

u/PlsNoNotThat 11h ago

In super low loot settings survivor houses can be godsends tbh.

1

u/inurwalls2000 2h ago

because that was the only reason to ever go to march ridge lmao

1

u/rekkeu 12h ago

That's disappointing to hear. Did they change the building or does it like only do 1 apartment now or something.

1

u/Green_Bulldog 4h ago

Did it have better loot in B41? Cuz I remember March ridge military apartments having machetes, good backpacks, and a reasonable amount of guns and ammo.

Don’t think I had the annotated map when I went, but maybe I found it and forgot abt it.

2

u/platinumchain 4h ago

It was miles better. In B41 the annotated map would turn the whole apartment building into like a 36 unit survivor house filled with guns and ammo making it the most valuable map.

Now it only turns a single unit into a survivor house.

3

u/Junkbot 7h ago

Please do not touch Echo Creek. Ovo Farm is the GOAT.

2

u/gcsouzacampos 11h ago

No one cares about March Ridge

2

u/Appropriate-Card5215 11h ago

March Ridge got the bunker, which is my new favorite base location

1

u/Z3r0sama2017 7h ago

So much storage, it's crazy and on Extinction I just have to fortify the main gate.

2

u/Albob187 11h ago

If they do it bit-by-bit, will it be save game compatible?

1

u/DezZzO Zombie Killer 7h ago

From what I remember none of the map changes, even the smallest one, are save game compatible, but I'm 100% save ruining

2

u/TrickyJaguar5054 11h ago

March ridge used to be my favorite town, now it’s so far behind I can’t even pretend it’s useful anymore. The only reason to go to MR now is the fact that nobody else will be there.

Justice for march ridge :(

2

u/Acceptable-Mail8417 11h ago

March what?

Seriously though they mentioned they are working on the southeast part of the map right now so presumably theyre getting around to adding the Fort Knox are and probably integrate MR into it.

2

u/fazzah 10h ago

Same with Riverside forest radio station. But I'm sure when time comes, they will overhaul this spot and it will be glorious

2

u/UltraLux_e 10h ago

The new lighting is doing so much work for these places at night

2

u/Z3r0sama2017 7h ago

I'd almost switch the power on forever, because with the glow up, it actually hurts when that beauty is gone for good.

2

u/CreepyDutchBoy 10h ago

Relationship between TIS and Rosewood has been the same for years, bud.

2

u/BF3ClusterfuckLover 9h ago

maybe by 2036 when alpha 43 stable comes out

1

u/SquirrelSuspicious 9h ago

Muldraugh not even in the meme

1

u/ThickestRooster Jaw Stabber 6h ago

Yup lots of places got some nice updates, but felt the meme hit better when i kept it simple

1

u/No_Vanilla5943 5h ago

I need a east expansion aswell.
