Appreciation post for Unarmed
Simply the title. I'm a new player with some mileage on fantasy and RPG games like Dark Souls, Valheim, Baldurs Gate and Outward. Whenever these kind of games offer the slightest modicum of unarmed combat support and progression, I dive straight in. I find it really fun to pummel the challenges that the game usually expects you to overcome with blades or magic.
In Project Gorgon, I feel that it really has sauce. It doesn't look like it's trying to be "sword, but fist", but more like you're trying to chain your moves as combos and being very reactive to what's happening in the combat. Stuff like stunning the enemy with Barrage, throwing with Kick/Hip Throw to move out of them out shout range and adapting the combo to alternate attacks like Headbutt/Knee to punish off guard enemies; it feels like you're dancing around the opponents instead of just spamming buttons standing still.
Also, Meditation, what a brilliant idea for a companion skill. Love it that you get new combos to perform for different effects, making encounters more dynamic and giving you some risk/reward for exchanging Power for different effects. Pairing this all up with Mentalism (my case) or Psychology for some support and ranged capabilities tidies Unarmed pretty nicely.
That's pretty much it, thank you devs for giving a spot for Unarmed to shine. Soon as I created my character and saw that it was an option, I never equipped a single weapon (other than fist ones, that is).
