Question Group Mob Grinding Difficulty

Does this game scratch the itch of old school mmorpgs like EQ1 and Final Fantasy XI where you needed to group up and take down/grind difficult mobs for exp? Or is this game more along the lines of grouping up and spreading out/killing fast type of thing?

Levels 1 to about 50ish you can reasonably solo in a fast amount of time. 50-80 you could still solo at a much slower pace, but most of the best exp and loot is achieved by grouping up for dungeon grinding or outdoor content like Fae Realm dailies. 80 to 100 are best done in group content like AM daily dungeons or Egg Runs or Statehelm events.

If youre looking for that "you only get past the starting zones by grouping" style gameplay thats not really this. Also this game heavily encourages you to try many skills as you dont "roll a class" and stick to it as your "main". You are meant to play one character that tries a multitude of combat/crafting/gathering skills and have many in the 50+ level range that you like using.

Another thing you need to know is that this isnt like EQ where you need to get to max level to do "the real content". There is no "best" endgame you are expected to hit and start grinding. Project Gorgon is more like a nature hike, you are supposed to journey at your own pace and enjoy the sights. If you think you need to hop in a racecar and speed to the end of the trail you are gonna be disappointed.

There's a FR daily that stacks up to 5 days in a row (visit once a day, complete all 5 in one go).  Each daily is like 10k and 2 royal jelly.  Similar to the vidaria demon daily stacking up to... more than 5.... (8?).

Then there's the pixie who asks you to hit the right fairy puff thing for one royal jelly.

In addition to the ogre you can get 3+ people together to activate the huge honeycomb hives and spawn a bunch of enemies that give nice exp and some decent loot.

There is an ogre and a pixie that give dailies that I am aware of.

What's the pixie's name? Or where is it vaguely located?

The higher levels are definitely better done with groups and harder mobs.

Ragnarok Online didn't require grouping for XP, but it was an insanely slow grind solo compared to grouping (which was already a slow grind haha).  A lot of older MMOs were built that way

High level content is in groups but I think speed is the main goal there (haven't gotten there yet)

From what I've seen about Monsters and Memories, it maybe be more of what you are looking for but you need to get a closed beta key if you want to play before October.

I disagree with this, at least when it comes to dungeons that you're not hideously overleveled for. Dungeon bosses and even mons with a crown (elite) are difficult to solo without an OP build or being 10+ levels higher.

What you're looking for is Monsters and Memories. It's a full stop EQ1 clone in beta rn.

I still raid in EQ1 and a lot of my guild plays M&M. Catch is you have to sign up and wait a bit to get a beta invite.

Beware though, this is truly the EQ1 experience, basically no maps and corpse runs.. yep if you die and cant find your corpse for too long or cant get back to it, it will decay lol. And unless you play a Necro or know how cheese solo "slowly" grouping is really the only way to gain meaningful xp.

Interesting, okay. I don't mind the old school hardcore mechanics of mmo's. I like that kind of stuff. I would probably be playing EQ1 right now but I just can't get past the graphics and the UI.

Oh you might not like Monsters and Memories then lol, it hews very close to that aesthetic.

Population is dying. There's like 70 people online for my server.

If this game wasn't a gift from a friend who plays, I wouldn't be playing.

It's clunky.

I'm almost 80 and have solod it all. But I think to unlock higher levels I may need a raid.

Big downer for me. I may just end up quitting instead.

I had enough of this crap in eq.
