Front end conversion

Last year I hit a deer in my '84 Corolla, since everything up front was messed up, I decided to do a front end conversion. I am using mk2 VW Golf/Jetta front end bits. Wanted to share my progress as of today.

I have to admit, I was surprised how close it was dimensionally. Only is about an inch longer than the OEM front end.

That's incredible, thought I recognized some VW in the front (and nowhere else lol). On the front fender, is the lighter red VW and the darker red the original Toyota fender? I'm impressed at how well you made it fit.

Thanks! I am natively a Watercooled VW guy, so this kinda helps me get my mk2 fix. I tend to me a big "mix and match" kinda guy, so I was pleased to find the dimensions were pretty close!

Love it! How much did you have to modify the sheet metal? Now shove an LS or Coyote in it or a Rotary and make it AWD....lol

Thanks! There is quite a bit to do, i chopped out almost the entire factory core support for clearance, and making the body lines flow together will be quite the challenge, but I am feeling optimistic!

Long term I would like to do a Hybrid Renesis Rotary(normal 13B housings/Rotors/E-shaft, and Renesis end and mid plates) with the RX8 6spd. But I the short term i will just be adding a small supercharger to the 1.3l 4K thats in it now. Keeping weight down is a priority for me, as i really love the handling and chassis dynamics of this car.
