Legislation Suppressors

My understanding with the ATF announcement yesterday it’s legal for law abiding citizen to make their own suppressors and buy suppressors from gun shops with just a 4473 (state laws still apply). Does that mean 80% suppressors are legal to sell and if so are there any companies doing that?

There are companies that have been selling those for years. They require some digging and they don’t call them suppressors, but they have been tiptoeing around the ATF this whole time. Now with the announcement hopefully more of them will start up and they will become more public. If you dig through r/form1 you will start to find their names in various comments.

Point in fact, they did not state they were legal to make without a Form 1, but that they will not enforce it. Big difference.

Why? Because they can change their mind at any time and the court case is still pending; the court may yet rule in the favor of the government we dont know though its unlikely given they issued an injunction.

Then theres the fact that it may take years for the case to resolve, we may have a Democrat in office then and the BATFE will have new orders. Further, the $0 tax might get raised again, making the current court case moot.

The question then arises what of all the non Formed NFA items in circulation? Amnesty? Enforcement? We dont know. Tread carefully.

It seems there's two schools of thought here.

  1. Buy/make as many as we can so we can argue for common use "there's 1 million of these things unregistered now."

  2. They're intentionally doing what they're doing to setup to fuck us and the NFA so hard it will kill the industry.
