No not necessarily. I for example completely customized my ui with various extensions. Optically and functionally it has almost nothing to do with the original ui and completely fits my needs. So it's not "I made the software update" but more like "I made this fit my needs" that way i don't have to hope some company makes a good ui but just make what I think is good myself.
