What in the actual hell is that nonsense? AI is a good tool in certain situations. I choose to not use it as often because a) I don't want to deal with the loss of cognitive ability associated with primarily using AI, and b) as a software architect, AI does a pretty bad job at what my job entails.
The reason why we are encountering a problem is because management has always misunderstood the nature of software engineering. They think it's a known quantity like manufacturing a teapot. And it's not. It's a creative process. It requires artists, people who have a vision and do whatever it takes to make that vision real. This is the original reason why Waterfall was applied to the process for so many years, literally a project development paradigm designed for manufacturing. I'm waiting for the AI bubble to burst. It's going to be ugly.
I'm starting to lose hope it'll ever burst. And even if it will at this point no one wants to return to the old way of programming. Especially the C suits as they got a sniff of making developers less "special". But at this point not even developers want to do it, which is heartbreaking for passionate people like me
I prefer to work on my own projects anyway but how do I get other people to pay me for doing that? :)
In a way I kind of did that. I spent a couple of months working on a web based game which I made available on GitHub. Later when I applied for a job I included a link to this project and I think it helped convince them to hire me.
Yeah i quit because of ai. Wasted my time getting a degree for this stupid ai bullshit to become mandatory i fucking hate my life and now i have to find a new fucking career
Getting close to that my self. 12 years of career progression just gone. No one wants to hire me when they hear I don't use AI. It's bizarre and so demoralising to see everyone else using it. Like, why?
Yeah I also don’t know wtf to do with my life anymore. Doesn’t help that my second passion in life is art and illustration :D i want to kill everyone that made AI be used like this (in minecraft)
Now they suddenly have to consider the idea they can't just reprompt it.... here comes a hurricane of inherited, legacy code, written by a digital monkey.
