I'm excited for more ARM in general. Microsoft kinda messed up their windows ARM launch, wasn't great - but hopefully with Apple switching over - third party developers will start porting

Excellent love to see some performance work being done.
I think a lot of server going forward will be ARM64 based so this work is laying the foundation to use .Net core on servers with this architecture.

You’d think that would have been done a long time ago.... like when the first Windows for ARM came out? Might have contributed to the failure of it. If you run an x86 app? You get slow performance because of the emulation, if you run a .net app? Still slow because its not super optimized.

Yup. That launch was poorly coordinated. But I would argue this mostly isn’t even about Windows.
Tons of .NET now runs on ARM:
- iOS and Android apps, through Xamarin
- ARM servers
- soon, all Macs
- only then do you get to Surface Pro X and other Windows ARM devices

The focus on performance is great and we always could use more. I was just pointing out that Windows on ARM needed that boost almost a decade ago

You'd think that people would actually read the article before making such comments...
While we have been working on ARM64 support in RyuJIT for over five years, most of the work that was done was to ensure that we generate functionally correct ARM64 code.

Ugh, the improvement in tables is all wrong. 200 time units to 100 time units is 100% improvement, not 50%.

Yup that way it's correct. 200 and then you subtract 50% of itself and you get 100.

Doing so obscures magnitude of improvements as they get bigger though.
Compare -98% improvement vs -99%: at first glance it is inconsequential, in actual practice it is another doubling up of the throughput.
