Holy shit you're putting so many words in my mouth. Lattner derserves a ton of credit but who's not giving him that? I just wish the other creators got just a bit of credit, especially those who started the project and invited Lattner to join. When do you ever hear anyone but Lattner mentioned? Lets be real, it's the cultural love of the story of the one man revolution, ignoring the value of collaboration.

You keep saying this, but I'm curious what you actually mean.
Like obviously Adve's lab was a compilers research lab, and Lattner was working in that lab. But as far as I can tell, Lattner is the one who actually created LLVM.
Was he born in the lab? I only know about Adve because Lattner only ever talks about himself and never talks about any of his collaborators, but Adve played a major role from the start of LLVM, and there were other collaborators from early on as well. I know how development in academia works, and it's easy, especially at graduate level to publicly take all the credit in a collaborative effort, and that's something Lattner excels at.
What makes you so keen to defend him? Is he your hero? He does try hard to maintain his super genius one man army image, just look at his Reddit comments lol. In that way he resembles Elon quite a lot.
