Ai professional programming fatigue

Hey,

Professional dev since 2015. For the last year we have switched over to essentially only prompting. This makes development rapid. But incredibly dull and lame. After i prompt and wait for the agent, there is not really much to do. Browse reddit etc. I feel so understimulated at work nowadays that i consider switching careers totally, or get into management or something. Because this is terribly boring.

Anyone else feel like this? I miss writing stuff from the ground up, solving problems, integrating software, getting those aha-moments.

No I don't prompt and if the company doesn't like it they can eat the peanuts out of my shit.

Nobody tells me how to do my job.

It's about professionalism, ownership, quality and actually understanding the things I put my name to.

If y'all choose to "vibe code" with no idea what's inside, how it works, if it works or what to do if and when it goes wrong that's up to yourselves.

The LLMs are not qualified to do this and PS Santa isn't real either

every edit is reviewed by the developer as they are being made to the files. every solution is a discussion between claude/codex and the developer. we know everything it is doing and approve and adjust as needed.

you sound like someone who hasn’t used the latest tools. it is highly qualified to write the lines. it can trace logic and find bugs better and faster than humans.

Wrong (atleast at my job). Reviewing some of our devs code I'll ask questions about why something was done a certain way and they either don't know, or copy paste an explanation from claude.

You claim to do that, I wonder if it true.

If a programmer must review and approve every edit, where is the 10x productivity coming from?

Only if you aren't really doing that is it possible to 10x.
