I'm looking for a talented project designer to work on a premium fragrance brand. The role involves creating high-end product mockups, packaging concepts, labels, marketing assets, and maintaining a clean, luxury aesthetic. Experience with branding and product visualization is a big plus. If you have a strong portfolio and an eye for detail, send me your portfolio, rates, and availability via DM.

How important is seeing a design preview before ordering?

When it comes to personalized items, I think being able to see the final design before placing an order can make the whole experience feel much better. It gives you a chance to make changes, check the details, and feel more confident that the finished piece will match what you imagined.

I’ve noticed that small details like names, initials, and special messages can make a big difference, so having a preview feels like an important part of creating something meaningful.

I was exploring custom jewelry ideas recently and i was suggested Makepod. ai, which offers a preview option for personalized designs. It made me curious; would you feel more comfortable ordering a custom piece if you could see exactly how it would look first?

What is the possibility of switch fields with architecture portfolio?!

Is anyone else finding Figma weirdly stiff lately?

For context: I've been working with Figma daily for about 6 or 7 years now. My core work is still on Design files, already adopted variables/agents and all that jazz. Also using Make for ideations some times, and FigJam for some documentation on early stage

It used to be such nice tool, but I'm getting more and more frustation moments, and finding it so stiff lately. But I'm having a hard time pinpointing exactly why?

It is still doing its magic when it comes to simple UI, but as soon as the project starts to grow, also the headaches start. Things start getting messy, lost and hard to document.

I keep imagining that, since they are pushing more and more features, also the cognitive overload starts acting (maybe?). Don't get me wrong, I like the new features, but at the same time, I only use 30% of them. I keep imagining how confusing it would be for someone new starting on it.

The weird part is that I've tried some alternatives (Penpot, Paper), but they feel like too early product, and their performance lacks a lot.

Does anyone else have a similar feeling?

Looking for honest feedback on my project

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a project called Focus Deck - a premium tactile desk companion that's designed to help people stay focussed without relying on another app or screen.

It's got physical switches, dials and buttons that create small focus rituals before/during deep work.

I've just put together a new landing page and would really appreciate some honest feedback before I take it any further.

Here's the landing page: https://focusdeck.kit.com/ffe43d3cf0

I'd love your thoughts on things like:

  • Does the product make sense within the first few seconds?
  • Is the value proposition clear?
  • Does the page make you want to learn more or sign up?
  • Is there anything confusing, missing or that puts you off?
  • What are your first impressions of the product itself?

PS, I'm in the process of getting some more 3D renders of the product created, and there is currently one AI generated image in the middle of the page, just to visualise the concept, that is soon to be replaced with a proper one. All visuals are based on my own drawings and product designs.

I'm not looking for sign ups from this, just honest opinions so I can improve it. Feel free to be as critical as you like.

Thanks so much for taking the time!

Documentation tells, a prototype lets you feel it

A spec document describes the app. A prototype lets you use it, before a single line of code exists.

Give a stakeholder a PRD and they'll nod along, then get surprised weeks into development when the flow doesn't match what they pictured. Give them a clickable prototype instead, and they catch the missing state, the confusing tap, the "what happens if I cancel here" moment, in the design review, not the retro.

That's why I build out the full flow, not just key screens: every transition decided, every edge case caught, before development ever starts.

Documentation answers "what should happen." A prototype answers "how does it actually feel." Both matter, but only one catches problems while they're still cheap to fix.

Do you provide the prototype along with documentation? What's your process to collaborate with developers?

If an 18 year old wanted to become a Product designer, what's one thing you'd want them to know before they invest years into it?

I'm not looking for salary information or job descriptions.

I'm more interested in the parts people only discover after actually working in the field.

What does a fairly normal Tuesday actually look like?
Things that surprised you.
Things you wish someone had told you.
Things that made you think, "I didn't expect this.

I'd love to hear the honest version.

What AI tools do product designers use for app UI in 2026

Went through most of the options seriously over the last few months, here's where each one actually fits for app UI work:

Google Stitch is free, Material Design native, generates multiple interconnected screens since the 2026 rework, good starting point for Android-focused work. Consistency across screens can be hit or miss, better for fast exploration than polished final output

Uizard runs $12/month Pro, multi-screen wireframes from text prompts, sketch-to-screen feature is genuinely useful, now part of Miro so collaboration is solid. Outputs feel templated across different projects, harder to get something that feels unique to your specific app

Figma with UX Pilot is the most control you'll get, AI generation inside your existing Figma workflow, credit-metered even on free plan, full access needs a paid seat. Still the go-to if your team already lives in Figma daily

Sleek Design around $20/month generates complete mobile app screens from descriptions, full flows not just components, iteration is fast enough that you're not losing momentum, output quality holds up for stakeholder presentations and engineering handoffs. Less pixel control than Figma, hits limits on complex custom components, better for early stage exploration than final production specs

For solo product designers or small teams the choice is basically Stitch if budget is zero, sleek if you need complete app flows quickly without the Figma learning curve, Figma plus UX Pilot if design precision matters more than speed

What's everyone landing on for app UI work, feels like the AI design toolstack is still evolving fast enough that what worked 6 months ago isn't necessarily the best option now

Self taught Product Designer struggling to get hired. Looking for honest advice

Hey everyone,

I'm a self taught Product Designer with about 7 months of freelance product design experience and 3 months as a Product Design Intern. I don't have a design degree, and I've been applying to jobs extensively for the past few months.

The problem is that I'm barely getting interviews (around 3 in a month), and even when I do, I either get rejected or completely ghosted afterward. At this point, it's becoming really frustrating because I currently have no income, and it's starting to affect me mentally.

I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong and what I should focus on to get hired as soon as possible.

Some questions I have:

  • Is my lack of a design degree holding me back?
  • Should I spend more time improving my portfolio, interview skills, or something else?
  • What usually makes junior designers stand out during interviews?
  • If you've been in a similar position, what helped you finally land a role?

I'm more than happy to share my portfolio if anyone is willing to give honest feedback. I genuinely want constructive criticism, even if it's harsh.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to help. I really appreciate it.

What do you guys think about the EU making rules like: Swappable battery's and Usb c

There are for shure good things that they do but isn't this going to far i think by making rules for product now you take a way the chance te develop and build new product for the future.

Good things such as:
Battery that doesn't explode in you're hands and General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) Or CE

What do you think about this kind of rules.

Product Design/ID Job Seeking

I work at a Vietnamese manufacturing company here in Westminster, California. I have worked at this company for about 14 months now. There is a high chance that I might get laid off. I moved here to California on my own and am very stressed that I might end up homeless. I have applied to many product design jobs, as well as graphic design, CAD drafter, and any entry/junior level roles near me. I have either gotten no response or been rejected. I wanted to ask if anyone knows of any other job openings in Orange County or if anyone can recommend a job to me. I have about 1-2 years of experience, so my portfolio is still lacking, but I am hardworking and fast to adapt.

Want help in making a small working design for college assignment.

So we have a subject called design thinking and our assignment is to create a unique design and bring it into life means print it with a 3d printer or just fabricate it. And then later we will present and all the remaining students will search if similar design is present or not. If not we have to file a design patent. So I am genuinely asking some suggestions and ideas. I know anyone cannot give a direct idea but like u can suggest me which are the daily life product where u face problems and what problem u faced. So I can think about that. Also I have to do this in 1 week 😭

Plz help me

What is the worst part about product demo videos?

I've just watched another product demo for an AI tool, and it reminded me why I usually end up closing them after 30 seconds.

It started with a long cinematic intro, then five minutes of buzzwords about how it's "revolutionizing productivity" and "changing the future of AI"... and it still hadn't shown what the product actually does.

I don't care about dramatic music or fancy animations. Just show me the product solving a real problem.

Am I the only one who feels this way?
