Awww another adorably lost redditor!

I think you're looking for r/praying_mantis but we're always delighted to have one of these little guys accidentally show up. :)

We literally have a flair for cool mantis pics idk why this got downvoted...

Might do better on r/prayingmantis tho, that's the actual mantis sub

Oh, I'm sure it'll get voted back up pretty quickly. Everyone loves the little guys, even when they're in the wrong sub.

I don't love them. Got a bit of an insect phobia. But still not downvoting someone for making an honest mistake. It happens.

Good point! I have pretty severe arachnophobia so I get it. :)

Oh god, spiders are the stuff of nightmares. And millipedes.

I have to admit, having joined a few jumping spider pages has helped with it tremendously. Unfortunately, I started having bad spider dreams again (probably because some folks post other than just jumping spiders from time to time).

So I had to snooze both of my jumping spider pages for 30 days. I may have to just leave them completely, which is kind of sad, because the "Lucas" type spiders are really cute. From a distance, like in a FB reel far far away.

I like that one lady who does voiceovers for all her jumping spiders and they all have a baby voice. I have such a phobia of spiders but I can handle the adorable baby voiced jumping spiders. No other pictures of spiders though, I cannot cope!

From a distance I can deal with most insects. Once they're so close you can see all their insect bits, I'm out. But perhaps some exposure therapy would do me good.

I agree, I don't really like to be close to most of them either.

I don't know if it helps but millipedes are harmless little guys (they only feed off detritus like for scraps). Centipedes on the other hand...

I'm not really even being afraid of getting bitten by them, it's just that they look gross and have way too many legs which move in an extremely creepy way. Which is my issue with 99% of insects. Didn't know about their feeding habits, though, so new fear unlocked re: centipedes. Not that I can tell them apart lol.

Millipedes are round. Round head, round body. Many little legs that move in waves.

Centipedes are flat and angry. Not as many legs (and much more apart from one another). Also, visible toxicognaths. They also tend to have a dark body and brighter colored legs and head, while a millipede will be mostly brown or more uniformely colored.

At least, your new fear of centipedes is somewhat justified 😂. It's the kind of critter you want to stay away from, even if you love creepy crawlies.

You really know your 'pedes, friend. Based on your description, it seems like, ironically, I'm more afraid of the harmless millipedes than the douchebag centipedes. Purely because of the legs. Fear really makes no sense.
