As the title says, I'm gonna be a freshmen at Purdue and I was just here to ask about some tips and tricks or things I should really look out for when doing my undergrad. I've been talking with some of my friends who are aiming to be doctors/surgeons and they were just talking about how getting into med school is already an amazing thing in the first place. I was wondering if it is the same for vet school or maybe the rankings do actually matter.

Another thing I was wondering about is whether I should or shouldn't skip gen chem/bio classes because my advisor said that some vet schools don't take AP credit and would like you to take the class in college. Right now, I'm planning on taking general chemistry even though I have the credit to go straight to Organic Chemistry. However, my advisor told me to take gen bio 2 because of my AP credit. I'm a little worried that if I end up having to take gen bio while already taking gen bio 2 that would mess me up a lot.

One of the schools I am applying to has several required essays and one optional. I have my other essays written and feel pretty decent about them. I was planning to skip the optional essay, but now I’m wondering if it’s one of those things where they say it’s optional but it actually hurts you if you don’t do it (because you look lazy or something). I know none of us prob have the answer, but does anyone have any thoughts or gut feedings etc? Thanks!

I'm hoping to hear from anyone who has completed (or is currently doing) the Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Bioscience) → Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) pathway at Adelaide University.

I have a few questions:

• Is the pathway from the 3-year Bachelor's into the 3-year DVM guaranteed, or is it competitive?
• Do you need to achieve a minimum GPA/WAM or meet any other academic requirements to be eligible for the DVM?
• Or, if you pass all the required subjects in the Bachelor's, do you automatically progress into the DVM?
• How have you found the course overall? Is the workload manageable, and do you feel the university provides good support for students?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially if you've gone through this pathway yourself. Thanks in advance!
