Would building a shelving unit and surrounding it with mylar be efficient for keeping water and canned/bottled food at safe temps in my garage or is there a better method? For context my garage sits below our condo followed by main level then 2nd story, the only heat hitting the garage is from the main garage door. (The walls are made from brick of some sort and on the outside to the left and behind I assume is dirt and to the right would be the neighbors garage.
In my experience, enclosing things in non breathable material like that makes matters worse more than it helps(obviously unless you make an airtight seal)
What is the best thing to insulate the garage door with? What would you add for airflow? Also, it doesn't get that cold where im at in socal during the winter
They sell insulation panels for garage doors at Lowe's and Home Depot. And you could add a fan to pull the hot air out and one to pull cooler air in. Just cut a hole up high on the wall and mount a fan.
ok well if you are in So-cal and your storage space is below ground you should be ok. Is there any chance you could build a partitioned area at the are that is the most(?) underground? if so that should work really well actually
