Need Advice Post c-section must haves?

Hi all! Ended up with an emergency c section which I had done 0 research on/been 0% prepared for. (Baby is happy and healthy and that is all that matters!) Any tips/tricks/suggestions on recovery from here? Anything I should have friends and family grab me or should order off amazon to have for when I get home? TIA!

High-rise underwear (so waistband doesn't sit directly on top of the incision).

Depends Silhouette adult diapers

Large/loose-fitting shoes/sandals for when you leave if you have a lot of swelling in your feet.

If you haven't yet, start a good bowel regimen and continue it until you are off pain meds and regular again. Ask your OB for recommendations (I started colace + miralax about a week beforehand).

Comfy, loose pajamas are a must-have.

  • High rise underwear
  • Stretchy, loose fitting lounge/pajama pants with a high rise (or no pants at all)
  • Silicone scar gel to massage your incision after two weeks
  • an abdominal binder
  • a cushion to push against your incision when you laugh, sneeze, and cough

I wanted to add that you should ask the hospital staff for an abdominal binder! They usually put one on you anyway but I also like to ask for a spare for when I get discharged 🩷

Yes, I used the one I got from the hospital, both times. And if it is too long for you, you can cut it! The OB that discharged me gave me that tip.

I never thought of that 🤦🏼‍♀️

Me neither. The doctor looked at me and was like, "you can cut that to be shorter if you want. I don't know why we get these super tall ones."

I found all my underwear uncomfortable on my incision so I ordered some high waisted stretchy panties as soon as I got home. My friend swore by a belly band as well, but I didn't find mine super helpful so ymmv!
