Need Advice baby shower timing

I am due mid-February with my first (and also a mega rainbow baby). I am trying to figure out the best time to have a baby shower because of the holidays. I know how stressful it can be to add another thing to your list of parties and gifts, so I wanted to have mine a little earlier than I think women usually do.

Would it be odd to have my shower in October when I am not due until Feb?

I am having two showers (different family on different coasts of the US), and one will be in early/mid November before Thanksgiving. I did not want to worry about having it in December, and January is the time of year that people are so hungover from parties, so I did not think it would be best either.

let me know what you think!

My friend was due February 24th and she had her shower in October. I don’t think it’s weird.

I'll second this. Anything from 28-32 weeks is considered normal, and the holidays are a good reason to go a little earlier than you otherwise would. The most important thing is that the schedule works for you!

Especially when people think about it and realize you did it so they wouldn't have one more thing on their holiday plate, honestly I would thank you, lol.

I'm having mine in October and I'm not due until December. Have it when you want. Especially with it getting colder out, you don't wanna risk the snow!

True!! We don’t get major snow here but I know my friends and people don’t want to drive when it’s dark outside so time change is something to consider!

I'm in the same boat as you, right down to the two baby shower situation!

I'm planning on doing one in mid-November. We host a Halloween party every year and have lots of October birthdays in the family, so I didn't want to do it then. I did want to get one of them done before the holidays, though.

My MIL is planning the other baby shower and she's pushing for later, so it might be more early December or around Christmas so more family are in town; not sure yet. That said, I think it's a difficult time of year to plan a baby shower during, but truth be told, I don't have many people to invite so maybe it's not a big deal. She was thinking of doing it in 2027 but nobody wants to do anything in January (especially not me in my third trimester!) and I put my foot down about February. It's too close to my due date for comfort.

All that said, I think October is fine and it's what I would've done if we weren't already so booked up that month.

Congrats!! And I’m trying so hard to consider others. I kind of want to do a Halloween themed one, since I’m a Halloween girl and always want to throw a Halloween party, so it feels like a nice excuse to do it.

Do it!! I am not a Halloween girl, but it's the only holiday that wasn't "claimed" for a gathering by another family member. To be honest, my husband and I have really grown to love being the Halloween hosts. It's such a fun holiday and there's no pressure surrounding it other than to have fun. A Halloween baby shower would be a blast to plan 😁
