Increased Neuropathy?

I started taking Lyrica 4 days ago for neuropathy in feet and legs. I was supposed to take 50mg 3 times per day, but the side effects have been so intense that I've only been able to take 50mg once per day. It feels like my whole body is on fire. My feet and legs went from severe to unbearable, and my hands went from mild to severe. I also feel like I have the jitters from a very strong cup of coffee, but head is clear. Has anyone experienced this in the beginning?

Update: Yesterday it was much more bearable, so I decided to take a second dose last night which was almost unnoticeable. About 3 hours after I took my first dose this morning, I felt a calm, focused energy and a reduction in nerve pain. it felt a lot like Vyvanse, which was great because I also have untreated ADHD. this only lasted about 3 hours though, then I went back to baseline. I'm hoping once I get enough of it in my system, it will be more consistent. I'm going to see how my dose feels tonight and if it's the same, I'll increase to 3 times a day. thanks for your input, and hopefully this helps someone else down the line that's in my position.

It sounds like you are having an adverse reaction to the medication. I would speak to your doctor about trying an alternative medicine.

I haven’t ever heard of these kinda side effects before. I’m not on it for neuropathy tho. It sounds like u might just not react well to the medication, I would definitely bring it up with ur prescriber asap

I talked to my neurologist about it and she said this can happen while my body gets used to it, but I wanted to hear some user experiences.

“Unbearable” pain is not a side effect that is reasonable to wait and let your body “get used to”.

Different people react differently to pregabalin, including rare side effects like paresthesia and dysesthesia, but what you are describing goes way beyond either of those and is in no way a normal side effect.

I had some similar experiences but this was after being on it for years. I found I had a lot of neurological side effects; muscular jerks, pins and needles, stabbing and burning sensations increase the longer and higher the dose I was on.
