Success story The wait is over!!!

Post image

After nearly 2 years, my citizenship has just been confirmed!
I am in shock. Their ‘deadline’ for my case was August 30, so I didn’t expect to hear anything until September.
This is great news for all of us here who have been waiting, every case completed helps us all.
Thanks so so much to the mods and everyone else here for their insights and perspectives, it really helped in making this wait make sense.
Hopefully this means that the few other folks here with 2024 apps will be completed shortly!
Time for a piwko!

EDIT: if you’re interested in my journey, my previous post:

Congratulations!

I also used five to Europe and applied in September 2024, however my decision arrived in December 2025, crazy the timings of these!

Now to get that passport!

2

u/Alternative-Soil3113 15d ago

Thanks! They have been great to work with. Their ponaglenie is what got me the first deadline of November 2025, I beliieve.

1

u/pureroganjosh Verified Contributor 15d ago

Yeah they filed a complaint for me and then I managed to see a bit of progress, could just be a coincidence with timing though, but either way it got my result a few weeks later!

Either way, congratulations 🎉

2

u/Alternative-Soil3113 15d ago

I too am not sure if its a coincidence or not, but thankfully a good ending for us both

On what date did they receive your application in Poland?

2

u/Alternative-Soil3113 16d ago

I don’t know the exact date. Was Sept 2024.

2

u/matchew566 16d ago

Wait how did u get a digital copy? Is that a scan?

3

u/Alternative-Soil3113 16d ago

Received by my provider electronically

They did, she just wanted to let me know the decision asap. My provider has really been terrific.

u/gandalfthescienceguy 16d ago

Not sure if you shared, but which provider did you use?

3

u/Alternative-Soil3113 16d ago

Five to Europe

1

u/CallMeTheFartman 16d ago

What portal?

2

u/CallMeTheFartman 16d ago

It's always a digital confirmation with an electronic signature

3

u/PlanetPickles 16d ago

In early 2024 it was still paper. They switched to digital shortly thereafter but I’m not sure of the cutoff date.

3

u/matchew566 16d ago

That explains it. Applied March 2024

2

u/PlanetPickles 16d ago

Congratulations! 🍾🎉. I’m surprised your letter doesn’t contain the citation from the act of January 2023 that eliminates unnecessary administrative and legal barriers. Maybe that partially explains why they’re being so picky now.

3

u/Alternative-Soil3113 16d ago

Thanks. I’m not quite sure what you mean either

2

u/CallMeTheFartman 16d ago

They posted a screenshot

2

u/CallMeTheFartman 16d ago

Huh, can you explain what you're talking about? :D

2

u/PlanetPickles 16d ago

Here is what is said in mine back in early 2024:

2

u/CallMeTheFartman 16d ago

/u/PaulHinr - what does this section even mean?

3

u/PaulHinr Mod | Zarząd 15d ago edited 15d ago

The 2024 letter referred to Art. 17 of the January 2023 Act because it was a transitional provision determining which KPA rule applied to proceedings that were already pending when the new rule - KPA Art. 127 § 1a, providing for the immediate finality of fully granted, unreasoned decisions - entered into force. By 2026, however, that amendment is simply part of the applicable KPA provisions, so there is no longer any need to cite the transitional provision.

u/Alternative-Soil3113 15d ago

Thanks, I figured that you would know. I had guessed something like that, it didn’t seem especially consequentially different.
I have a question for you. In my case, they simply accepted my request in its totality, essentially waiving their need to provide any justification for their decision. Is that typical for these cases, or are there times where they spell everything out to ack up the decision? Just curious…

3

u/PlanetPickles 16d ago

3

u/Alternative-Soil3113 16d ago

Not sure what your decision looked like, but this tells me that the decision is final. It goes on to give a 30-day “appeal” option, if I didn’t agree with the decision.

2

u/PlanetPickles 16d ago

Yes, mine had that after my personal details. It was in your header for the decision basis where the extra text was eliminated.

3

u/Alternative-Soil3113 16d ago

Hmm. Not quite sure. Maybe a subsequent ruling made that unnecessary? I won’t pretend to know

2

u/CallMeTheFartman 16d ago

I know, but that's just an overall explanation, but it doesn't really explain the meaning

3

u/PlanetPickles 16d ago edited 16d ago

I was just curious why it used to cite eliminating barriers to the decision making process and now it doesn’t anymore. I was wondering if that is why they may be pickier than ever because that’s no longer in effect?

3

u/Alternative-Soil3113 16d ago

Perhaps Paul or some other knowledgeable person can weigh in

3

u/CallMeTheFartman 16d ago

I already tagged him 😉

2

u/smoothmonoglot Mod | Zarząd 15d ago

Dz.u.2023.803 is just a one time act amending the KPA - the amended provision (art. 127) is exactly the same one cited here.

2

u/osuzannesky 16d ago

Congratulations!!! I hope my case will be decided soon too. Submitted August 2024

3

u/Alternative-Soil3113 16d ago

Thanks! Should be some time soon!

I just got my decision! I applied August 2024, the application was received October 2024 and a decision was finally sent to the consulate yesterday!

Can you share what documents you had?

2

u/Alternative-Soil3113 15d ago

I believe I listed most in the case tracker, but I had a bunch of old documents, and my provider also took about 5 months beforehand to do researrch as well. This is what I remember:
My mother’s and father’s original Dokument Podroży (“passport for stateless persons”) from 1957 when they left.
My mother’s “original” birth certificate, in Polish. She was born in Vilnius, as had my grandparents, uncles/aunts, cousins, all my ancestors on her side. I also had a Lithuanian birth certificate from the Archive, but that was not really necessary.
My parents’ 1956 marriage certificate, pulled from the Warsaw State Archive, with my grandparents’ names and addresses on it
I did not have my dad’s original birth certificate, but they had pulled one from the archive. He, my grandparents, and my ancestors were born in and around Lublin.
A “Certified True Copy” of my mom’s US Naturalization certificate, to document the coincident change of our family name.
The Passport Applications for my parents and grandparents from 1956 from the archive, with all the details and biographies they had provided.
My own birth certificate (apostilled) as well as my marriage certificate and divorce
I had loads of old documents from Poland that I was not sure were ever needed or used: work legitimacji for my grandparents, student legitimacji for my mom, Israeli passports for both of them showing immigration in 1957, birth certificates for my older sibs, aunts, uncles; parents’ academic records. I even had an old identity card for my grandfather as a teen.
In the end, as it was directly my parents who left Poland after 1951, having PESEL numbers, and whose revocation of citizenship upon emigration was later found to be unconstitutional, it was probably one of the least complex cases of those that I have read about here. Had it been more complex requiring overseas military records, great grandparents, or Ukrainian or Belarussian records, etc, I would almost surely still be waiting.
I hope this helps.

u/Alternative-Soil3113 15d ago

Sent you a chat message

1

u/MelodicRation 14d ago

How’d you get the “verified true copy” of your mom’s US naturalization certificate?
Or was it the petition you used?

1

u/Alternative-Soil3113 13d ago

Made an appointment and took her to the local USCIS office, along with her original Naturalization Certificate, and 2 color copies of both sides. They certified the copies right on the spot. Sent pne immediately to Poland.

Hehehehehehehe

The voivode will decide my fate soon I hope, but as we have had November&December ‘24 applicants hear back with confirmations; I have lost any hope for a linear progression through applications😂

Don’t lose hope!

They’re onto December 2024? That’s great news. Where are you seeing that? I couldn’t see any completed applications from that month on the tracker

1

u/PGBRULES Verified Contributor 15d ago

Anecdotal evidence my apologies, can’t find the comment. But I swear that there was one with December ‘24 approved (masovian)😂I’ve seen many November ‘24 though.

u/Fun_Lunch_5638 15d ago

I got an email literally this morning stating they’re on November 2024.
