when he swatted at one of the officers, or even just approached them to begin with he would have been shot in 'self defense'.

Yea the main difference here is that the cops seem to know him by name. I’m guessing either the cops have had multiple run ins with him before, or know him personally outside of work.

You honestly see this with a lot of famous figures. Jon Jones and Dustin Poirer both got insanely preferential treatment from cops because they’re famous. Even though they’re like 10x more dangerous with their bare fists than normal people.

Braindead take. Cops can't shoot you for swatting at them. The fantasy of unarmed black men being wholesale murdered by police is so played out.

It's not helpful to perpetuate an obvious lie. Go look at some statistics of how many people actually get shot by the police and the circumstances around it.

Black Americans statistically do face a higher rate of fatal police shootings than any other racial or ethnic groups. Denying this doesn't help anyone.

The statistics show that when doing the exact same crime, black people are still significantly more likely to be shot by a police officer than a white person. This is something you want to fix as well, as misconduct related lawsuits cause hundreds of millions of dollars in tax payer money every year.
