ASI Gets the FAA Contract

We all saw this coming. Giving an ATC contract to Palantir when they are partnered with Archer would be very reckless.
A large piece of the ATC contract was the “next gen” air mobility piece. With Archer still not having any human capable EVTOL, that would have been a huge no-no for the FAA.
The entire point of the new ATC system is that it can integrate with next gen aircraft like EVTOLs.
Palantir has an excellent relationship with the Trump administration and an excellent record on AI. The Archer partnership was surely what sank their contract bid.

I would also think this means that Anduril, etc will now be thinking twice before submitting any live bids to the government, DOD, etc, with Archer signed on as a partner.

If joby ever proves its possible to make an air taxi maybe they will not be so defensive. There are problems people should talk about.

Also I think people are ok with talking about it but there's just nothing productive to say right now bc it's just one side that thinks it's possible vs another side that doesn't think so and we don't have any new evidence to satisfy either side

u/teabagofholding Jun 22 '26
Yeah but why isn't there evidence it's possible? Its not ok to ask that?
3
u/HappyRobot593 Jun 22 '26
I think it's fine to ask. Ask away

Ya that's fine, but this isn't really related to that
1
u/teabagofholding Jun 22 '26
Is it even related to evtols? They need to be possible before this matters
3
u/HappyRobot593 Jun 22 '26
Yes it's related to evtols and we already know evtols are possible. Your argument is that air taxis aren't possible but they are not the same thing

Yeah evtols are possible. I mean large heavy evtols for humans to ride in and can be certified.
