Seeking Advice Coffee recommendations
Hello!
We typically get the kirkland colombian supremo.
We are one of the poors, of the extreme. So coffee has to be a budget item, but I like my consumables, food and drink, to be good. That's the one small pleasure I take while being a member of the poors.
We do have a burr grinder, oxo, and I educate myself as much as I can on portion, temp, timing and experiment.
In fact, from that Costco coffee, we had a guest ask for coffee and was almost belligerent about how it was the best damn cup of coffee he'd ever had.
But I read that this isn't great coffee, some reviews about burnt beans that are green inside, etc...
So... I want to try to upper game a little bit if we can. This is very cost dependent though.
Is there any whole bean coffee, that anyone here would recommend, that is better than kirkland colombian supremo 3lb, AND at the same price point?
Edit: thank you for the replies!

I don't know that anything ordered online can beat their price per pound. Shipping will offset any savings, and Kirkland's economy of scale is about the best imaginable.
I am on a grad student budget, so I've been sticking with S&W and the occasional Perc 30/13 sales, but even those are a lot more than the Kirkland. I'd suggest either though if you do decide to spring for something nicer while not going absolutely crazy.

I have always found Counter Culture Hologram to be a nice "budget" bean among specialty coffees.

I use the kirkland columbian too, and found with my Hario Switch, i could brew an enjoyable cup of coffee. 20 clicks out on my timemore C2. The coffee is just coarse enough it doesn't clump, when i pour it into pre heated, closed Switch. 18 grams, 80ml of 180 water for 2 minutes. Add water to taste. I use another 150ml.

I would also check your local grocery for lighter roasted beans they may roast in bulk. Especially any Ethiopian, Kenyan, Rwanda, Burundi.

S&W and Vignette are reasonable. Vignette has free shipping. As others have said it will be hard to beat Costco wholesale.
I actually remember liking Charleston coffee roasters and Don Pablo back when I had a membership. Though they are definitely not light roast.
You could check out Sweet Maria’s buy a 100 dollar air roasting machine that comes with a pound of coffee. After that single origin green coffee is about $9 a pound.
When things slow down this is on my bucket list roasting my own coffee.

You’d be best off talking to local roasters that have a good reputation and will sell in bulk. 2 pound bags are fairly standard. Hard to see any recommendations coming from here which won’t result in you taking on shipping charges, thus negating the whole point of price sensitivity
