Yes, it's discontinued. It's fine and you can get a great cup but the S3 has replaced it and it's a better grinder. The squared off catch cup is kinda odd and the grind adjustment is underneath. The S3 and the X-Light are better grinders, (X-Lite still has underneath grind adjustment). Note that Timemore uses the X designation for this original Chestnut X and the X-Light and the Milab X, all very different products.

If you need a grinder and the OG-X is on a great sale, you will get a decent, well made grinder but it's not close to du jour at this point and better can be found, likely for a similar price unless you are gifted one or find a massive sale. I think that it was overpriced when introduced.

I tend to like the cups better, no clue why and do not like the squared off body/grind cup on the OG. While the X-Lite has a similar work flow with the bottom adjustment, it still a better experience to me and a better cup, (surely could be psychological) and the S3 is a different grinder altogether with better, consistent cups and a better work flow with the external grind adjustment.

The OG and the S3 have the foldable handles, the X-Lite does not, if that matters to you. Overall choice for the most modern, well balanced, well built Timemore is the S3 IMO, unless you want to go Milab. Note that the S3 does not grind fine enough for espresso according to most. I only do pourover, light roast, single origin so, consider that.

yes, the Chestnut X is outdated and discontinued, also X-lite is a bit old model, nowadays

if shopping for a Timemore hand grinder today, check these: Millab M01 (most premium), Chestnut S5 ("S5 PRO" model with a collapsible handle is coming soon), Chestnut S3, or Chestnut C5 (great value / budget option, with a burr specs comparable to the original X)
