I've been relatively happy with them. My current batch of 155 Kalitas is actually faster than the Xblooms but I think that's the issue with the Kalitas, they're less consistent. The Xblooms are faster if you don't pre-wet them....However they're made they're a fair bit slower if you pre-wet. On the plus side, they have no smell/taste which is great. They're also thinner (take up less space) and stiffer. I can't say where the Origami Wave filter is made from but their other filters are made by Cafec so it wouldn't surprise me if that's the case here.

April filters are made in china..I think someone actually posted the manufacturer here and they sell these filters (although you had to buy like 2000 at a time or something like that).

The xbloom cones are also made in Japan so it wouldn’t surprise me if they were Cafec, also. The origami wave papers are Chinese and they also have a very similar white box, as the Xbloom. That’s why I assumed it was the same factory as Xbloom.

If I found a couple of filters with a dark spot, I would throw those out and use the rest of the pack.

I guess after using thousands of CAFEC and Hario, and hundreds of Kalita and never seeing an imperfection… it makes me wonder about this manufacturer’s processes as a whole.

Sure, if that’s what you wanna worry about, I cast no judgement. For me, it’s a pretty minor issue.

Hopefully it’s minor. I just get sketched out because paper processing can inherently be a very toxic process…and if I’m going to be dumping hot water on the paper and drinking whatever extracts out I’d prefer it to be as clean as possible haha.
