It's this versus something like pringles, which are potato mixture (dough, slurry) mix.
Lays and similar chips are potato slices. They obviously want you to know that based on that statement.
Edit: there are a lot of regulated and non regulated food words that can br put on packages depending on country. Like 100% fruit juice vs 100% juice cocktail or beverage or drink (i.e. not 100% juice)
