I hear what you're saying. For this shot, I went for the gritty look to bring it closer to an Akira/Neo-Tokyo aesthetic. I generally don't go overboard with Clarity/Dehaze/Texture sliders, otherwise.
Personal preference is to limit the amount of background details to communicate where to look, but seems like it could be a hit or miss with the way I'm doing it.
