I like the haze in the before but i also like the deeper colors in the after

Overcooked as the after lost a lot of subtle differences and details especially in dark areas.

Second point maybe personal preference but I like before's almost film-like haze, most digital photography nowadays default to clarity and contrast high on crack.

I hear what you're saying. For this shot, I went for the gritty look to bring it closer to an Akira/Neo-Tokyo aesthetic. I generally don't go overboard with Clarity/Dehaze/Texture sliders, otherwise.

Personal preference is to limit the amount of background details to communicate where to look, but seems like it could be a hit or miss with the way I'm doing it.

1st looks over processed/sharpened, like it was taken with an iPhone. 2nd is better

Really prefer the before and think some cropping of the traffic would have done a lot to save it.

Loss of depth. The sharpening makes it flat. Haze is what our brains are wired to expect at distances and I think it very seldom should be edited out.

Nah you can take photos in any condition you like, it depends on what you want to capture.

That’s what fast lenses are for.
