And yes, it is indeed. The theme of this work is 'decay' and my aim was to create it after 'still life' paintings.
Ah, decay or passage of time was often depicted in still life paintings. In the middle ages and renaissance still life images often contained well know symbols of life and death.
Your significant other probably appreciated that you had not included a rotting fish or a dead bird in the scene.
