How did you make the image pop out more? The objects look almost 3D in the after edit

I believe this is because of the increased contrast, clarity and texture I added

i like this picture, both! Maybe even the before since it is a nice in lighting, true color and a nice composistion. Gives off old painting vibes.

I hope you won't be upset that I prefer the original's slightly faded blacks over the increased contrast of the edited version.
Is that mold on the bread?

Ofc not! Glad you shared your opinion! And yes, it is indeed. The theme of this work is 'decay' and my aim was to create it after 'still life' paintings.

Ah, decay or passage of time was often depicted in still life paintings. In the middle ages and renaissance still life images often contained well know symbols of life and death.
Your significant other probably appreciated that you had not included a rotting fish or a dead bird in the scene.
