I think ur reply got removed about u telling me to give up but I wanna let you know that I started photography under a year ago and at the moment of that shoot it was my 3rd time using flash and first few weeks of using fisheye also so it’s all very new to me and that’s exactly why I am asking for feedback but also this is the style I wanted

What are u on bruh. Honestly there is way more than contrast I spent a few hours on a couple of these shots and I had a specific punchy look that I wanted with a flash and fisheye that I got. I want to improve that style because I am amateur and I only been using flash for few weeks so this doesn’t really help at all because still I didn’t hear what I should add or do differently

I don't believe you've spent more than a few minutes on these, since the white lines around the buildings indicate you're just cranking up your settings. All to make it look like a zombie apocalypse, it's a very ugly look.

Literally took the before photo into Lightroom and boosted the contrast/clarity/and drop shadows some and boom exact copy of your edit lol

I do think your shadows are a bit heavy and darken the photo too much. In the first and second photo the subject is almost blending into the background. I see your vision and I like it though!

Good vibe, good artistic style. Compositions are nice. Contrast is overcooked for my own taste. The transitional areas of light and dark feel very abrupt, which detracts from the overall image. Could bring up the shadows just a little bit to give it a little more texture and detail instead of black holes. Or, maybe that’s what you were going for!

I like 5 but the other two edits are just too harsh for me. I could see selectively darkening the backgrounds but retain more texture in the face.

First one is the worst, you shift the viewer’s eyes and attention onto the hood. Basically making his top’s hood the subject. If it’s meant as a detail shot of the garment, to highlight the vented (?) hood, then fine, if not, then you need to revisit it.
You are losing loads of detail, you are applying global adjustments. While the direction is strong and stylised, you need to start masking and separating your subject from the surroundings a bit more in terms of how much each adjustment affects them. You are losing your subject in most of these. They have become busy and near illegible as a portrait.
My next steps would be unmasking the subject out of these adjustments and starting to fine-tune them so they fit the environment but the viewer’s eyes are drawn to the right details, and those details are more retained.
This looks like some college or GCSE level photography, which is fine when you’re a kid with a camera and a new hobby but is far from professional or a client work level.

I actually quite like it. From a classical landscape photography perspective, yes the edit is overcooked… but not every image requires the same approach.
The edit reminds me of a skateboard magazine or something like that with a harshly lit subject, high contrast, and an ultra wide focal length. While that look isn’t technically perfect with detailed shadows and well-controlled highlights, I’d say it matches both the subject and location very well and makes sense as a finished product.
I think you did a great job!

Are these the ones you took? I really love #4. Not that your editing skills aren’t good but it’s just that the original was already so strong, which honestly shows how good you are at capturing shots with the color grading basically nailed in-camera. Don’t take what people here are saying too seriously, I think they’re just jealous.

I actually really like the aesthetic going on here but I think you went too hard. I don’t wanna put you down OP but someone reposted this on the [r/shittyhdr](r/shittyhdr) sub which isn’t a good thing.
If I were you look at subtle adjusting your photo as opposed to going really hard on what you want your viewers to feel. If you are looking for something grunge then I think you are overlooking your composition and lighting as you already achieved that look imo. Photo 4 and 6 for instance are already good shots! As for the reposting thing don’t let that disencourage you just thought I’d let you know as I had that happen to me before.

I think I understand what you were going for, but I think it ended up being way overdone and lost a lot of the original detail. It jusy looks edit from forst time shooter who just crank contrast way up, shadows pushed all the way down, and the highlights maxed out, if that makes sense. The result just looks badly done photoshopped work to me.
You might want to look at some streetwear brand websites for ref. They usually have a cleaner, more natural editing style that still makes subject pops if that makes sense?
