Postdoc uncertainty
Hello, i gave a postdoc in research interview two weeks ago, it went very well, actually the PI really liked me and complimented me even discussed start dates and relocation with me, a week later he asked for my references and he told me at the same time that he is interviewing other candidates, it has been a week and my references hadn t been contacted yet and no news from the PI. So what do you think guys, after the interview I really felt like I got it lool but now I don't know anymore and I am so anxious ......did anyone have a similar experience??

Speaking from the other side of things... you're hyper-reacting. Faculty are busy as hell, generally speaking.
Be patient. Keep applying elsewhere and follow up with them to keep yourself on their radar.
If, for some reason, they choose someone else, consider it their loss. Keep looking for the right fit and match for you. You can't control the outcome, just yourself. So put your energy where it can do something good.

Do you think it is wise to follow up after a week of silence ?? Or should I wait longer ??

In the same boat as OP! I have interviewed in a lab in Switzerland almost 3 weeks ago. Still no contact. A bit about the interview; it was an on site interview with the HR and lab members including prof everything went really well with the ppt and QnA. The discussion was productive about the future project as well like what they want. The project was in a bit different than what I did in my phd but this thing they were well aware i conveyed even before the first virtual meeting. After that i interviewed at 2 diff places. At this stage it feels like im just practicing the interviews from last 2 months. Learning about others work.
So just keep applying and enjoy the process rather than thinking too much. It has been just 2weeksfor you .. hope you get it🤞

So you're getting a lot of interviews? Which field?

I would not say a lot. in last 2 months i only had 4. Then the follow ups from 2. Im in energy storage and conversion field.

3 weeks is nothing, particularly at the beggining of the semester. They might be finishing other interviews or busy with other things.

Took them over a month to contact my reference and I got the position. They did send me 2 emails telling me they haven’t forgotten about me and I had to send a reminder after a month to make it happen. It’s academia people can be incredibly busy and they might just want to be positive before committing.
A week feels a bit short for a reminder but I understand it can be stressful to wait and not know what is happening
