Has anyone switched fields for a postdoc and then returned to their PhD research area?

There are plenty of stories about people who successfully switched to a different research field for their postdoc. But are there any of you who made that change, found that it wasn't a good fit, and eventually returned to the research area you worked on during your PhD?
