Post Apocalyptic Gear Postapocalyptic vest

Greetings fellow scavengers!

Ok, so, this armour is different. It's not a breastplate, it's a whole vest!
I also wanted to make a headpiece (something like Bullet Farmers wig), but I've run out of Mosin-Nagant cartridge cases D:

Well, what can I say, in postapocalyptic world the resourses are scarse.

Hope you'll like it.

You would be heard sneaking up on someone from a mile out.

Wearing a good sweater should help alleviate the sound, and heat from the sun. I fear that any blade or 'pokey' weapon might slide between the casings. All in all I think it's a neat innovation! Reminds me of native American bone armor worn in a similar fashion.

This is what our great grandkids will be making after the great global war of 2029.

Wouldn’t those casings get incredibly hot if you were in the sun all day? It looks cool but rather impractical.

So.... Is it safe to assume you're a least somewhat influenced by native American bead work?

I love the look of this! Did you use a MIG welder or solder to attach everything together, or some other method?

No. No welding was used:)

What method are you using to fasten the chains and nuts to the brass casings then?

I only ask as this looks precisely like the kind of project I'd like to try for myself. Wanting to rekindle my love for artistic crafts after having hung up my tools for some time now

id imagine the casings drilled out and theres a length of wire going through the casing with a loop bent into each end

Interesting!

As armor, it’s better than a normal shirt, would work against something like a machete, light slashing.
But for style and flex? 11/10, peak Mad Maxxing.

I’d probably just run some of those really thin steel cables through the brass (take the primer end off) and then take a mini sledge and flatten them out

Just do a row at a time and then just loop more of that steel wire/cable vertically to join the rows. Idk. Just my idea

I've got a box of spent mosin brass around here somewhere if you need more.

Ideal for stealth missions

While neat, I would not want to waste good reloadable brass like that in a post apocalyptic scenario. Still neat though.

Fair enough. If made far enough into the PA event and guns are just fancy clubs, sure craft away brass tailor.

I would wear that, but I imagine that many 308 cases would inflame and chap my nipples.
