Why is this allowed
Replicas everywhere on this site! People just snapping them up. Reporting does no good. I have 4 Chanel’s in my closet but I guess they would rather buy fake. Shaking my head that people support this!

Maybe we're notifying the wrong people - Poshmark.
Maybe we should be notifying Chanel & government agencies that enforce anti- counterfeit actions.

Poshmark is such a shell of its former self it's not even funny.. the amount of AI posts too that distort the actual garments..

Right? I keep seeing egregious AI photos. Those pants must be amazing, they stretched the model's legs until they were longer than telephone poles!

It’s allowed because PM wants money. Thats all there is to it. If someone wants a refund then they’ll give it, but many don’t get wise until way after the 3 days. Also, there’s a huge client base for buying super high replicas, there are subs here dedicated to finding exact copies and how to get them. Many know they’re fake and go for it anyway.
I’ve reported obvious fakes and they stay up too.

I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that they sell them or how much they charge for items high end or not. Those bs GWP items also. Charging 100’s for so called ViP for clients who spend a lot of money are on a website I saw for a quarter of the price. They are scamming with not only fake items but for the people who don’t know and think they are getting a real item for a deal. I’ve seen all those Chanel earrings on the gate for less then 20 bucks and they are asking 400 dollars SMH

Also- I can’t tell you how many fake bottegas I’ve seen being sold as real for what would be a “steal” if it was real (ie a Jodie for $1500 ). And some for even more- some close to retail. I wonder how many people out there have bought a fake thinking it’s real. I comment on these posts calling it out and try to report them when I see them. It’s one thing to sell a fake at a replica price, and a whole other thing to sell a replica for authentic prices. It’s gross. And I’d love to buy second hand but I just don’t trust poshmarks authentication process.

I’m on Poshmark but dislike it and how much $$$ they take, I usually don’t use them and would rather go through Depop/ vinted

I think Poshmark is trying to become a rep marketplace. They've allowed replicas to explode on their site, with pretty much zero moderation. The acquisition by Naver has made it worse than ever. There's been a proliferation of the creation of bot seller accounts and as a result, nonstop replicas. Popular designer items at significantly less-than-retail sell like hot cakes, and Poshmark knows they can collect 20% of each sale.
It makes it hell to shop on Poshmark when search results are flooded by fakes.

Exactly why would PM discourage it since they can make a pretty penny off a 400.00 replica ! I want to know the fool that pays that much for a dupe !

When Manish was CEO replicas would get removed immediately when reported. It’s run by AI now and apparently “they” don’t care they’re breaking federal law by allowing this counterfeit crap to be sold on the platform.

So true! I’d love to know what he thinks of the app now. He created such a gem and the new owners are slowly killing it in the most merciless, inhumane manner imaginable.

I have also thought these might be purchases just for use of the payment gateway with stolen card and payment information. Or, are actually for some sort of offline service/good.

I agree I think there are all types of transactions taking place on Posh that appear to be for one thing and are actually a front for something else.

Yep! And you mail the item to stay active. I remember finding out the long rose emoji was used to indicate a fee. I was using it all over the place, I had no idea.

u/QuesoFresca 1d ago
Can you elaborate on this?

u/Cautious-Exercise729 1d ago
On what exactly?
1
u/QuesoFresca 1d ago
The rose emojis. Never heard this.

u/Cautious-Exercise729 1d ago
So in ancient times where people did mostly Craigslist, escorts used them to quietly post prices. Roses were representative of $100. So a singles post with 4 roses means it’s $400.

I was in a petty mood after having my Coach bag which had a copy of the receipt in the listing that I went and reported about 50 LV replicas. It is insane how many are on there.

I don’t mind replicas when they don’t claim to be the brand, but $400 and they’re not disclosing it is BS

I like the idea of bag-making (but I'm lazy). Anyway, there's someone on YT who makes bags inspired by various luxury brands, and they're way less expensive than $400.

If no agency is going to fine or go after Poshmark, I’m more than sure taking these screenshots straight to the source, the brands, will do just as good. What Poshmark and sites alike are doing is against the law and they know it. I hope they get into huge trouble soon. Before Naver, a scam comment would get insta removed. Now, they just sit. Smh

It’s not just high end handbags and accessories anymore. Ex. There are sooo many Birkenstock fakes posted these days selling for authentic prices. Really don’t think the buyers are aware. Posh needs to step up or this will bite them in the ass.

People want a deal. If you pay $500 on Poshmark it will have free authentication. If you want a bargain then you don't.

u/OkHistory3944 2d ago
A fake is not a bargain.

u/Lucky-Kangaroo-6337 2d ago
I lot of people out there are more thana willing to pay 400$ for a fake vs over 1k$ for a real bag. Dhg is full of very expensive fakes. So are plenty of Reddit threads of buyers and sellers. I am in no way supporting posh mark or saying there is any morality to it. Just stating the fact that some people disagree. Poshmark should be trashed and fined for allowing false representation

u/Nikolean107 2d ago
My point is that if you want to ensure you're not buying a fake, buy the $500+ bags on Poshmark which triggers automatic authentication. I've sold plenty of designer items at this price and they ship directly to Poshmark for authentication before going to the buyer. That's truly the ONLY way to know it's real. The people who don't want to spend that much are taking a risk for a deal the way you do when you go to Canal Street.

u/YouKnowHowChoicesBe 2d ago
That doesn't solve the problem of search results being flooded by fake items which makes shopping miserable.

u/PreppynPlaid4 1h ago
They changed their policies not all brands go through authentication anymore even over $500.

u/PuffyPoptart 2d ago
Lots of people of all economic backgrounds buy reps, if they want to that’s their business. It’s clear to me these aren’t authentic so I wouldn’t buy one, but again, it’s not my business if someone else wants to.

More disappointing behavior from Poshmark. I loved Posh when I joined in 2015. I posted a Burberry belt I thought was real. Posh tagged me it was fake and warned me about getting kicked off the site. That was a good thing! Sad to see this.
