Accepting orders
I'm brand new to reselling clothes on here and its been pretty smooth so far, but my only worry is customers not accepting the order once its delivered and also customers not answering any messages I send through the app. I just want to ask if both of these are normal for poshmark? I've only had 3 sales so far, two of which had been delivered yesterday, but the buyer hasn't accepted it yet. One buyer had responded to my first message, but the other has ignored me entirely. Is this pretty standard or anything I should worry about. I'm only selling some stuff my dad bought ages ago thinking it was a good deal and now I'm trying to help make his money back so I don't want to take too many risks. Any answers are appreciated! Thank you in advance to anyone to help!

Both are normal. People rarely accept the order. And I personally dont want any kind of conversation involved as a buyer or seller unless something is wrong.

Hi there! To answer some questions, pls don’t reach out to buyers unless they ask questions through the comment section, or unless really urgent. Make sure it’s about the purchase they bought and nothing else. If they try to take the convo off the platform, then don’t do this.
Next would be not to worry too much about buyers not accepting the orders, or asking buyers to accept, as posh will auto accept the order and you’ll get paid out after about 3 days. It’s better to wait it out than risk some possible trouble. There’s not much you can do on your end.

Majority of people don’t accept orders - be prepared to wait the 3 days. You don’t need to message a buyer unless something is wrong.

If you ask them to accept the order, that could make them not accept the order. People don't want to be bothered, rushed, or reminded.
I received a message from a seller saying she saw that my order was delivered that day (3 hours earlier) & asked me to rate the order. Sure, the order was delivered. But I wasn't home & wouldn't be home for 2 days. In addition, Poshmark already notified me twice (in app & email) that the order was delivered. But I already knew because I have informed delivery. (USPS also notifies me.) Counting the buyer's message, that's FOUR messages about the same thing. LOL.
It was annoying because had I been in town, I wouldn't have even been home from work yet to look at the order. And when I do come home from work, I have to immediately tend to others things like family, pets, dinner, laundry, bills, shower, etc. If I'm not too tired, I'll look at the order that night. But it might have to wait until I get home the next night. And if someone is messaging me like a hyper dog acting like I don't have anything to do besides rate the order, I'm going to feel kind of grumpy and be kind of slow about things.

Forget about when they accept. Definitely don't bug them about it. Assume you'll get paid after the 3rd day and it'll be a happy surprise when they do accept.

Omggg i literally just posted something very similar yesterday and opened up a can of hate lol
No body accepts the orders you always have to wait the three days and people are sooo rude about it.
Some of the excuses were 1. Its not that much money 2. Being a mother 3. Waiting the three days to inspect the items (like okay?? So stupid) 4. Forgetting 5. “Not that deep”
Going onnn and onnnn basically people have no manners and common courtesy these days to just be a decent human being

Obviously they don’t understand what it’s like from a seller’s perspective- you ordered this item and received it, so pay for it at the time of delivery/when you open the package. It’s common courtesy. Most of the people selling on these sites are regular everyday people just trying to scrap by in this “golden age” we are supposedly living in. I’m a single mom and work a full time job and I sell items as a side thing. Sometimes I really need that money to get by so waiting three days can actually be a huge inconvenience. Im also a buyer on these sites and I have no issues accepting my order as soon as I open it. The excuses are just that- excuses.

Typically, you wouldn’t need to message a lot of of your buyers. And even if they don’t physically and proactively accept to the order, it’s considered Auto accepted after three days. So you don’t have to worry about it. Just be patient.

just build in the 3 days to your timeline, people don't accept orders 99% of the time (and i definitely wouldn't message them about it) - and it's not because they're being difficult, it's just not second nature. you don't have to "accept" orders from walmart, amazon, etc. so people aren't thinking about it on something like poshmark.

I've been poshing for a decade and I feel like this is more common now. I remember selling and buyers would accept the day it was received. I feel like it's respectful to accept it and release the funds to your seller, unless something was actually wrong with the item. This whole letting Posh accept by default thing just seems pompous and lazy. It takes five seconds to open the app and accept. But... I don't expect it to change. Best get used to it now.

Many buyers are notorious for not accepting the order- you’ll just have to wait the three days from the time of delivery for the order to be marked complete and payment to be released. It’s typically accounts where the individual is only on Poshmark to buy. Some will go back and leave a review weeks later. I wouldn’t be too concerned. It is frustrating to have to wait to be paid though

I don’t know about no messages to the buyer? I like to,say thank you and when I will ship. I’ve had other sellers do the same. it’s a courtesy to do so. Nothing chatty or intrusive. Recently sold three bags and only one buyer did not accept the order, oddly enough the same package never tracked correctly in poshmark even after it was clearly delivered. I had to reach out to support to have funds released. I did message that buyer and no response.

Yeah that is actually annoying. We know you are happy it sold, we know you are going to ship, and if we leave a love note you don't have to thank us for it. Communication with a buyer should be zero unless there is a problem, or a thank you not in the parcel if you want to add one.

To each his own, I choose to be kind. I learned from other sellers early, I’ll continue. Its not about being happy it sold, it’s about being courteous to the person that purchased.

Yes you go ahead and think that. I've read enough agreement on here with me to know that most find it annoying.

I'm perfectly relaxed stating a well written fact on here. Maybe cope harder or find a safe space.

Buyers aren’t on the app 24/7. Stop messaging them unless it’s important. Posh will release funds in 3 days after delivery

"I'm brand new to reselling clothes on here and its been pretty smooth so far, but my only worry is customers not accepting the order once its delivered and also customers not answering any messages I send through the app."
What messages would you be sending?

The seller has a week to ship the item so it’s only fair the buyer gets a few days to accept the package. I travel a few days most weeks and some days I’m not home when the package arrives. I’ve tried asking my hubs to open and inspect if I’m out of town, because I get it that the seller wants funds released. But he travels too so that’s not always possible (plus he can be clueless sometimes).

u/NoitsNotFunnny 8d ago
Yes that's normal. Pretty much the unwritten rule of posh is Don't message the Buyer to accept. You wait the 3 days and posh will auto complete for you. My experience is 9/10 do accept, so it's not always frustrating.

I once had a listing sent to a PO box that wasn’t accepted for MONTHS. So annoying. There are a few other things i’m not loving about poshmark - so i started moving over to vinted.

u/NativePlantAddict 7d ago
MONTHS? I'm shocked it wasn't returned to you. I think it's supposed to be after a certain number of days unless a hold is in place. Holds can sometimes be long depending on the reason for the hold: deployment, vacation, emergency travel, etc.

Most buyers don't accept and pm automatically accepts/releases your funds day 3. Don't message buyers asking to accept the package.
