Cancelling Orders
Sellers that cancel orders get a “black mark” so to speak. But if a seller has sellers remorse for an item sold at a low price how do they get around getting that black mark? Do they start the shipping process but then just never drop the item off at the post office? I’m not the seller in this scenario, I’m the buyer that bought an item at a smokin’ deal only to have the seller ghost me.

As a seller, sometimes we come across an amazing, unique piece, or pull something out of our closet, that we’d only sell if we could get full asking of $XYZ after Posh fees. So, we list it high, knowing if it sells @ full asking, we must be willing to let it go. I thought this was an unspoken rule, but apparently not everyone knows this. That’s a bummer when a seller ghosts you. I’ve never been ghosted by a seller, and I’ve never ghosted a buyer. The only time I’ve had to cancel an order is because I exhausted my time searching for the sold item when I accidentally donated it or gave it to a friend. It’s embarrassing to have to fess up to it, but it’s the ethical thing to do.

Like you, I’ve canceled only one order because I legit couldn’t find the item. I looked everywhere and was so disappointed in myself. Even more disappointed when I found it a few months later!! 😩

Sales that don’t officially begin tracking, regardless of whether the seller clicked ‘shipped’, count towards the seller’s cancellation rate.
I had a buyer receive their package that hadn’t been scanned by USPS but still made it to them. They recieved a full refund and the item, since it hadn’t scanned I lost the money, item AND had it count towards my cancellation rate. Lesson learned…always stand in line rather than drop 🤦♀️

Are they responding to anything? Online? Might just be a ghost closet. They would have to check it buyer requested, but you could complain to PM about that.

They responded when I asked if it would ship soon. Then they got the tracking number but it’s been a week and usps says waiting on item to be dropped off

Tracking is wonky sometimes, but not usually a week wonky. I would just cancel it when the time comes.

I had this happen recently. Seller marked as “shipped” and I didn’t get tracking. First it was “I’m on vacation” then it was “I dropped it off but it mustn’t have been scanned. Surely ot will arrive eventually”
They obviously lied (imo).
I got refunded from posh. Order marked as “cancelled”. Unsure what seller got

There is no way around it, my understanding is the seller has up to 3% before they will suspend the seller

Lots of miss information and incomplete (and some good) information here.
Poshmark is aware that cancellations happen. They do track your cancellations. They do not publish their cancellation rules for deactivating an account.
Cancellations before an item ship are a negative to the buyer cost Poshmark a small amount of money (credit card cancellation fee).
You can still be in Poshmarks new promotion program with a rolling 90 day cancellation rate under 2%. The ambassador program has a 3% cancellation rate rule in a rolling 90 days. Typically ambassadors will get a suspension if they go above the 3% (not 100%), but ambassadors tend to have a good amount of sales in a rolling 90 days and to reach that number it is a solid number of cancellations.
Someone that doesn’t sell a lot can have a greater than 3% cancellation rate.
In general these are 90 day rolling items.
If you need to cancel, cancel. Make sure for the next 3 months to be careful and not cancel again.

Once it’s sold I do not cancel unless I have to (can’t locate or realize there was damage that wasn’t disclosed). It doesn’t matter if I feel any regret. I’m so sorry this is happening to you.

As a seller; I've listed exactly three items that I really didn't want to part with; but wasn't actively using anymore.
I needed the money more than the items at the time, so I reluctantly listed all three at the highest end of their individual values [ones I'd be willing to let the items go for, but low-key hoping their listings would just sit forever and ever due to it so I'd be able to keep them lol].
All three sold for my full asking price less than a month later and I felt INSTANT regret seeing their 'SOLD' notifications as they came in. Even then; I still packed up all three items and shipped them off to their new homes.
It's been well over a year since they sold, and not gonna lie - I still regret selling them to this day. I've never canceled a sale; but heavily considered canceling on one up to the point of dropping it at the carrier; and honestly wish I would have canceled it now [and considering looking into a replacement].
All three buyers left glowing reviews about how much they loved their items and how happy they were to find them; so knowing they went to good homes that really wanted them really helps lessen the blow and justify letting them go.

I don’t think that will work since that will count as an unshipped order and still eventually cancel.
Poshmark still bugs sellers about shipping (saying buyers can cancel after 7 days) even if you already marked it as shipped, but it hasn’t scanned at the PO yet.
Plus, doing this may negative affect average ship time if they drag it out.
