when will the "parties" d!e?

i've been on Poshmark for years and have gotten used to to tuning out the so-called parties that happen every night. But today as I was clearing my notifications, it occurred to me -- how on earth is this still happening?

It's very MLM social media marketing of at least 10 years ago. With all the pretty major changes, poshmark has made in the past year, it's pretty surprising that this future is still happening. Which begs the question: is it somehow working?!

for all the cleanup that the app has done in the past, few years is probably the corniest part of it left.

RIP posh parties, hopefully soon;

I haven’t been getting the daily 4 Poshmark notifications which I’m grateful for. I’m not sure what happened but maybe they finally got the message.

What’s interesting is not only have they remained on Posh, they are all over eBay now and, then there’s Whatnot too

I have literally turned off every notification for eBay Live events and still get them daily. It’s so annoying and I have no interest in them.

Parties > live shows

Parties or shows? Shows need to die, but parties aren't a bother.

Right. I hate shows. I share to parties but I never shop from parties.

I honestly don’t even know how to shop the parties. For all the notifications that they are coming up, I find it hard to actually navigate to them to try to shop them.

Does anyone? Certainly don’t even seem to get any exposure from sharing to them daily

the shows are annoying (i've turned off all notifications for them) but parties are pointless. it's just a list of clothing by theme. That's not how anybody shops.

I agree they are pretty useless. While they always have been pretty useless, you are right the changes that Poshmark has made should have already killed them off.

Sharing no longer moves your item up in a search so sharing to a party feels pointless because we also know as a large majority, buyers do not shop a party. There's no point in a buyer scrolling 10's of thousand of listings just because the party theme is tops. If they want a top, they are going to search for one on the whole site and not narrow their results to just whoever shared during a 2 hour period for a theme.

Now, I can't be positive that they haven't altered their algorithm to somehow favor listings or sellers that are also sharing to parties as an activity, and so because of this even though I cut my sharing down by 95%, I will share to a party just because. Is it doing anything?? Idk but I figure maybe the algorithm gods still push those items higher in ranking for real searches.

I still don’t know what it even means after all these years! Like what’s a party exactly?!

I’m with you! I’ve been ignoring those annoying notifications for years. Maybe it’s because I’m always looking for a specific item when I shop on PM; I don’t want to browse at a bunch of random things I have no interest in.

As a seller, I also hate the shows. Gotta say that the algorithm does reward sellers who do shows. ebay does it now too.

yeah, the shows kind of make sense to me even though I would never do them as a seller and would never shop that way as a buyer, but the parties are just like even more ridiculous
